Strongman Thor Björnsson's journey to a new world record
Unfortunately, from Friday 13.3.2020 all sports grounds in the Czech Republic are closed to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Almost all countries in Europe are also taking this approach, as fitness centres and gyms accumulate large numbers of people and the risk of infection is high.
As of yesterday, April 7, 2020, 1584 positive findings of COVID-19 have been registered in Iceland . Considering that this Nordic country has a population of around 400,000, this is certainly not an insignificant number in percentage terms...
However, Icelanders have a very tough root. This is proven by strongman Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, who trains just as hard.
What is his current sporting goal? Breaking the world record in deadlift! On May 2nd, Thor plans to deadlift 501kg and set a new world record!
In the video below you can watch Björnsson's deadlift workout, which is two days old.
