Ronnie Coleman took youtuber Jesse James West through his intense chest workout!

Bodybuilding legend Ronnie Coleman left an indelible mark on the sport with his dominance in the men's Open category. In addition to his monstrous physique, he was also famous for his insane feats of strength in the training room. In a recent video uploaded to YouTube, Coleman teamed up with influential fitness trainer Jesse James West to subject him to his most intense chest workout to date.

Ronnie a West

Ronnie Coleman first drew attention to his monstrous muscle mass, size and fitness as a Men's Open competitor in the late 1990s. He secured his first Sandow trophy by defeating such luminaries as Flex Wheeler, Chris Cormier and Lee Priest at the 1998 Mr. Olympia competition. He proved to be a dominant champion, successfully defending the title and retiring with eight Mr. Olympia titles to his credit. Coleman sustained several injuries over the years due to his intense training methods. He underwent stem cell therapy and reported positive results when it came to pain management. He confided that the numbness in his hands and feet has disappeared, and he expects the nerve damage to heal in approximately two years. Coleman disclosed that his mobility has not improved much after the stem cell treatment more than three weeks ago. He reported that some of his muscles are not stimulated, and expressed concern about atrophy in his lower body.

"Today we'll see if I could survive his most intense chest workout," West said. "What's the secret to a great chest?"

"Heavy weights," Coleman said.

Chest exercises included:

Flat Bench Press
Incline Bench Press/Barbell
Dumbbell Chest Press
Dumbbell Chest Fly
Seated dumbbell curls

They trained at Coleman's famous gym, where he has been training for over 33 years. Coleman recalled the 800-pound deadlift he recorded as the most memorable lift from his competition days. Coleman revealed that he trains lighter the week before a competition. He used dumbbells and barbells and set aside one day for each. He listed the flat bench as his favorite chest exercise. He trains 45 minutes every day. Also, Coleman was cutting and gaining carbohydrates at the Mr. Olympia competitions and eating 600 grams of protein a day.
