Milos Sharchev recalls his first Olympia and the beginning of Ronnie Coleman's reign!

Samson Dauda, Regan Grimes, Jamie Christian-Johal or Logan Franklin are just a few names of professional bodybuilders who are training under the supervision of Milos Sarchev, a former top professional.

Milos is nicknamed "The Mind" for his phenomenal knowledge of bodybuilding. He is even the author of an instructional DVD, which is one of the best things to date on bodybuilding training and nutrition. So it's no wonder he is one of the absolute most sought after trainers today.

The Serbian bodybuilder competed in more than seventy competitions, where he amazed everyone with his perfect aesthetics and almost perfect symmetry. His only major weakness was his arms, which lagged behind the rest of his body in terms of volume. This, unfortunately, Miloš tried to "correct" with synthol. However, this was almost fatal, as he accidentally injected the substance into his veins. After this almost fatal mistake, he warns against abusing the substance.

Miloš recently reminisced on his Instagram account about his debut participation in the Mr. Olympia competition in 1998.

A throwback to Mr. Olympia 1998 at Maddison Square Garden in New York City. This was my first ever Mr. Olympia competition and there was an unusual excitement in the air as the current, seven-time Mr. Olympia titleholder Dorian Yates was retiring. The question on everyone's lips was who would be next in line to the throne?

At the press conference preceding the contest, all contestants were asked to attend in suits. So it was only by the look on their faces that one could guess who was in what state. The protruding cheekbones were a good indication that someone was in fantastic shape.

Obvious contenders from previous years of the competition were Flex Wheeler, Kevin Levrone, Nasser El Sonbaty and Shawn Ray. However, no one could have guessed that all of these fighters, including Flex Wheeler, who everyone tipped for the title when he won the Arnold Classic that year, beating Nasser and Vince Taylor, would be leapfrogged by someone who placed 9th at the 1997 Mr. Olympia. Indeed, it was obvious at first glance that Ronnie Coleman was in the form of his life here!

When Ronnie was on stage, he posed in the middle, with Flex and Nasser at his sides. All eyes were on Coleman, even though they were all evenly matched. But as soon as Ronnie turned back, the game was over! As great as Flex and Nasser were up front, they were no match for Ronnie's back stance. Back, glutes and hamstrings, there he was streets ahead of everyone else!

It was this year that we all witnessed the beginning of Ronnie Coleman's domination, adding 7 more titles in the years to come!
Ronnie took the whole sport to a whole new level as he got bigger and bigger each year.

Personally, I preferred his look just from 98 because he was still symmetrical, and his waist was still very narrow. Some would say his best form was in 99 or 2003 (where I was also present), but I felt that by chasing size he lost a lot of his symmetry.
But who am I to say such a thing!

The following year, Olympia moved to Las Vegas, where it remained for the next 21 years. I was lucky enough to eventually see Jay Cutler take Ronnie's title, Dexter Jackson beat Jay in 2008, and Phil Heath became the new king of bodybuilding, later winning 7 titles himself!

Below you can watch the footage of the 1998 Mr. Olympia contest, the start of an incredible run of eight titles for the phenomenal Ronnie Coleman, as Milos Sarcev himself mentioned above.
