"Walking every day and eating a high-protein diet will extend your life," says Arnold

Legendary bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger celebrated success in all areas of life he chose. From competing on stage to moving to Hollywood and even to a political career where he became the Governor of California.

Schwarzenegger gained popularity in the mid-1970s. The Austrian native was crowned Mr. Olympia seven times. He was surpassed only by Ronnie Coleman and Lee Haney, who won the Olympia eight times. But he also expressed his concerns about where the sport is headed in terms of favouring mass monsters over the traditional figures of the golden era. He warned of the serious damage to athletes' health that today's trend brings.

In the past decade, the bodybuilding world has lost many athletes, many times more than other sports. Most American football players die at a much older age than bodybuilders, despite a multitude of problems. Even in MMA, compared to professional bodybuilding, premature death is rather the exception,

said Schwarzenegger, who dominated the Mr. Olympia competition seven times in his career.

But now we come to the point everyone has been waiting for. In his newsletter, Schwarzenegger stressed the importance of walking/eating high-protein foods every day for a longer, healthier life. Specifically, he stated the following:

"Good old-fashioned walking can be your best lifeline. Researchers examined data on more than 47,000 people over seven years to see what effect step count has on mortality. And the numbers say a daily walk is an effective way to live longer, even if you don't change anything else. Growing up in Europe, walking after finishing a meal is perfectly normal.

Want to know how to eat more and lose more weight? Make sure you add some protein to your meals. Researchers have studied what happens when you add a little protein to your typical meal. Those who doubled their protein intake (from 15 percent of their diet to 30 percent) lost up to 11 pounds - without changing anything else! The key is not to overthink it. The study participants swapped cream cheese for eggs at breakfast (they still ate bread), added cheese to their turkey sandwich (ditching mayonnaise and chips), and had beef lasagna for dinner (instead of regular pasta)."
