Jay Cutler reveals how to build "the best arms" with pulleys!

Cutler explained that biceps raises on the pulley are essential because they allow you to keep constant tension on the muscle throughout the movement.

"The pulleys allow you to have that constant tension," Cutler said. He also admitted that they also help him with his technique, "I'm a little 'scatterbrained' at times in training and I help myself a little with my body movement, but the pulleys force me to be a little tighter."

Legend also differentiates between using a straight bar (adapter) and a rope:

  • Pull-ups with the bar on the pulley: They allow you to better isolate the biceps and build the main "meat" of the muscle.
  • Rope pulldowns on a pulley: They focus more on the brachialis (the deep arm muscle located under the biceps) and the forearm. This builds arm width when viewed from the side.

2. Weight Basis: Barbell Lifts

The second pillar for building peak arms, according to Cutler, are classic barbell lifts (Bar Curls), such as using an EZ bar.

These exercises allow for maximum isolation of the biceps and are essential for building overall volume and "peak" (peak) muscle.

Why do both?

For Jay Cutler, the answer is not one exercise or the other, but a clever combination of the two.

"Everyone wants to have a balance between forearms and biceps, so I recommend incorporating both into your routine," he advises. "They hit different fibers, different areas of the arm. You want that full development."

She recommends focusing on 8 to 12 reps as the ideal number of reps, but noting that it's not a mistake to go higher sometimes if you feel like it.
