How to warm up before training | Quick Tips
We have a series of videos where Radim and I will show you how to build or improve your workout! In today's episode we have some quick tips for you to warm up before your workout. We'll show you an example of how to warm up before we go for an upper body workout, as well as a lower body workout. Warming up before we start lifting any weights is very important, although these tips are nothing groundbreaking, so some warm up is better than none! We have to take into account that it's most often our joints, tendons and ligaments that take the brunt of it, so at least take that small moment to warm up. None of us wants to get injured, so it is advisable to stretch with your own weight or a small weight.
Here are two warm up tips, we'll do everything in a super series, which means right after each other! And remember, this is still just a warm-up, so it's not advisable to overdo it right off the bat, both with reps and weight. There's also a big difference between being a beginner or advanced, so use common sense.
Lower body
| Exercise | Series | Reps |
| Squat with own weight | 2 | 15,15 |
| Lunges | 2 | 10 on each leg, 10 on each leg |
| Wide half squat with own weight | 2 | 15, 15 |
| Duck lunges | 2 | 10 on each leg, 10 on each leg |
The warm-up consists of two rounds of these exercises immediately after each other. The recommended break between sets is 45-60 sec.
Upper body
| Exercise | Series | Repetition |
| Push-ups with own weight | 2 | 10-15,10-15 |
| Shoulder presses | 2 | 10-15,10-15 |
| One-arm dumbbell pull-ups | 2 | 10-15,10-15 |
| One-arm dumbbell pull-ups in front bend | 2 | 10-15,10-15 |
| Biceps lifts | 2 | 10-15,10-15 |
The warm-up consists of two rounds of these exercises immediately after each other. The recommended pause between sets is 45-60 sec.
