8 weeks before the wellness races with Kateřina Vomáčková | Behind the scenes of preparation

Hi everyone, welcome to another installment of my Wellness Diaries! Today we're going to take a look at what it looks like with only eight weeks to go until the first race. The last time we saw each other was at the beginning of my training - back then my diet was still good and I had energy to spare. But now, as they say, it's getting tough!

With this daily vlog, I'd like to give you a glimpse into the reality of preparing for a Wellness Fitness NPC competition from the perspective of someone who trains for a living, but is also in full training herself.

Bodybuilding.

Competing in bodybuilding is definitely not for everyone. It's a huge test not only of physical fitness, but most importantly of the mind. I can tell you that it never ceases to amaze me how much you get to know yourself as you go through this process. Even though I'm in my fifth season of racing, it never gets easier. On the contrary, it gets more and more challenging because I always want to show better form than the previous one. And with that, of course, comes more physical and mental stress.

The price for dreams

Yes, it has nothing to do with a healthy lifestyle, but it's something that just consumes you if you find the process fulfilling. But you also need to give your body enough rest from these extremes and not go, as they say, "over the dead body". For it can take its toll, and not a small one.

That's why I want to appeal to everyone who is motivated by bodybuilding competitions: think carefully if it's worth it for you. You have to sacrifice a lot for a few minutes on the podium. Honestly, it's fulfilling for me at the moment, but I don't want to sacrifice my health for it. That's why I have big gaps between seasons, to get my body back to normal, to balance my hormones and, above all, to regenerate my psyche.

The glitz vs. the reality of social media

On social media, you often only see the glitter. Few people show you the reality and what it's all about. You're more likely to see an athlete sharing photos and videos of admirable form than you are to see them feeling exhausted and mentally down. And that's okay, because I believe that's why we watch these people - we want to see the "good" and what motivates us above all else. But it's important to remember that there are two sides to every coin and that there is often so much behind success that we can't even imagine.
