Phil Heath returns to hard mode after suffering from Covid-19

The covid-19 disease limits life even in the world of bodybuilding, and although it seems that bodybuilders have solid health and do not even feel the disease, there are cases where competitors have had to be hospitalized. One such person was Flex Wheeler, who spent two months in the hospital! He was only discharged at the beginning of November and was able to return to his hotel.

Another legendary bodybuilder who was sent to the hospital by this disease was Phil Heath. The seven-time Mr. Olympia winner contracted the Covid-19 virus a few months ago and had to be hospitalized for treatment. Fortunately, the bodybuilding legend won his battle with the virus. However, Heath has lost a significant amount of weight as a result of the disease. He is currently focusing on gaining his weight back. Phil's off-season weight is around 270 pounds. Only his weight has dropped to 225lbs after suffering through the illness!

"I returned to the gym after suffering from Covid-19 a few months ago, where I was hospitalised for a week. My weight was down to 225 pounds. I haven't had 225 pounds since 2007 and 2008." Phil Heath said.

Phil said he has fully recovered from the Covid-19 infection and now his goal is to get his body back into competition shape. In pursuit of that, the 41-year-old bodybuilding legend is paying extra attention to diet and training. Heath said he is taking exercise and food in stride to build back his rhythm rather than knocking himself out unnecessarily.

"I basically go to the gym to gain weight. Obviously I'm not 20. I'm trying to get my rhythm and flow back. I feel a lot better right now. I have about 4 to 5 meals a day and a few shakes. I work out lightly biceps, triceps, calves and core. My routine has definitely changed. Doing cardio in the morning, nothing too wild," Heath confided.

Heath managed to win the Olympia from 2011 to 2017. His last appearance at this mega show was last year when he came third! Phil's long time coach is Hany Rambod, who founded the legendary FST-7 training progression.
