Phil Heath looks strong despite having lost 30lbs!
About a fortnight ago we informed you that seven-time Mr. Olympia winner Phil Heath had to be hospitalized due to his health condition. During his convalescence, Phil lost 225 pounds, a weight he last weighed in 2007 and 2008. Despite this, Heath returned to his beloved workout and made the following public announcement:
"I basically go to the gym to gain weight. Obviously I'm not 20. I'm trying to get my rhythm and flow back. I feel a lot better right now. I have about 4 to 5 meals a day and a few shakes. I work out lightly biceps, triceps, calves and core. My routine has definitely changed. Doing cardio in the morning, nothing too wild."
It's great to know that Heath has overcome the illness and can get back to working out again. He has also hinted that he will consider racing when he gets back on track, but whether Phil will ever actually get on the race boards is a question no one knows the answer to.
Phil recently shared a video on social media and despite the loss of muscle mass, this dude still looks strong. However, compared to the last time he was on stage, he seems noticeably lighter.
"Have some fun in the gym tonight. We're filming a quick biceps workout for on my YouTube. Train hard and smart!"
So we can expect a new biceps workout video on Heath's channel in the coming days. The last one that Phil posted was from his leg workouts.
Heath managed to win the Olympia from 2011 to 2017. His last appearance at this mega show was last year when he got third place! Phil's long time coach is Hany Rambod, who founded the legendary FST-7 training progression.
