"If you want better results, stop looking for a magic pill," says Arnold Schwarzenegger!

At the beginning of a new year, many set a goal to lose weight and be healthier. Arnold Schwarzenegger is aware of these challenges, which is why in a recent episode of Arnold's Pump Club podcast, he shared his "best of the best" diet tips and provided straightforward guidelines for successful dieting.

After years of proving himself as a successful bodybuilder, seven-time Mr. Olympia winner Arnold Schwarzenegger hasn't stopped improving even now that he's retired. At 76 years old, Schwarzenegger has managed to maintain his perfect physique, all thanks to diet and exercise.

Arnold Schwarzenegger believes that sweat, along with the anti-inflammatory response when exercising, is the secret to anti-aging. Combined with his "rest, rust" mindset, Schwarzenegger still goes to the gym every day for at least 45 minutes.

It's not just exercise that helps Arnold Schwarzenegger, but his diet also plays a big role. By sticking to a predominantly plant-based diet, he has managed to significantly lower his cholesterol levels, which has given him more energy.

Fortunately, the "Austrian Oak" shares all his knowledge about healthy living and has compiled it into his newsletter and podcast, Arnold's Pump Club. He recently gave his "best of the best" tips heading into the new year, which were all about eating right and how to achieve the most success.

Schwarzenegger referenced a study that showed why people often get fooled by the diet industry, and then listed a better option when they want to be healthier.

"The study shows why the diet industry can be so misleading. If you want better results, stop looking for a miracle pill," says Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The decade-long study examined more than 17,000 people and found that a few dietary habits can have a huge impact. Regardless of genetics, these eating habits led to less body fat, more muscle mass and better overall health.

Healthy habits include eating approximately three pieces of fruit and two cups of vegetables per day. Successful dieters also try to keep the total fat content of their diet to less than 30% of their total daily calories.

This doesn't mean you can't eat more, but it does give you a range. So if you're on a 2,000 calorie diet, that means you can eat up to 65 grams of fat per day.

"They also found that you should limit saturated fat to 10% or less of your daily caloric intake, and you should also keep sugar to less than 10% of your daily calories.

Try to eat 25 grams or more of fiber each day and finally, consume more than 3,500 milligrams of potassium. Potassium is found in many foods including potatoes, avocados, bananas and oranges, dairy products, cashews, beans and lentils, and salmon.

Schwarzenegger reminds listeners that this is a flexible guide to help you navigate in the right direction. Even implementing a few tips can help the overall success of the diet.

These diet recommendations provide a good guide without telling you exactly what to eat. Even if you don't follow all of the suggestions, implementing a few of them can help you build better habits, and it's a great reminder that the best diet is the one you can follow.
