WSB - Squat Method - Part 3
It breaks down the progressive cycles for squatting, culminating in a tune-up for strength and competition. The use of additional load that is integral to these cycles is discussed in this article and this article.
Louie Simmons of the Westside Barbell Club in Columbus, Ohio, has coached 13 competitors with over 360kg in the squat, 24 bench pressers with over 255kg, and 25 lifters with over 315kg in the deadlift. Such a concentration of performance is unparalleled in the world. It may be worth exploring their training methods.

The third method is based on taking weight off the barbell. The dumbbells are suspended and when squatting they are stretched.
- 60% - 10% x 12 sets x 2 reps
- 70% - 15% x 12 sets x 2 reps
- 85% - 25% x 8 sets x 2 reps
- 60% - 10% x 10 sets x 2 reps + chains 2 sets
- 70% - 15% x 10 sets x 2 reps + chains 2 sets
- 85% - 25% x 6 sets x 2 reps + chains 2 sets
This cycle is only 6 weeks long because it goes into the peak so-called Circa max phase, which is when the tuning to strength takes place.
