How to choose the best vegan vegetable protein?

Nowadays, we can find a lot of articles about plant-based proteins and therefore opinions about them. There is a plethora of offers on the Internet, but few people can find their way around, let alone choose the right one of good quality.

Many people experiment and so we reach for vegan supplements just out of curiosity. Some take them for ethical reasons. Others like to be the centre of attention and so they think of ways to differentiate themselves from the rest and so instead of the classic Supertrener.cz they take a vegan one just to feel special. But is this the right way to go?

A really big selection...

On a regular e-shop we can most often find several plant proteins - pea, hemp, rice, soy or combinations of them. Occasionally we can come across almond, sunflower, chia, lupin or pumpkin.

When choosing classic whey proteins, it's not that hard to choose the right one for us. The source is clear. The only thing we deal with is the brand, the amount of protein represented and the speed of absorption. With vegan proteins, we should pay more attention to the decision, because it is not as simple as it might seem at first glance.

Combination is the key to success!

If we already decide that we want to include a plant protein in our diet during the day, we should know some important information.

The stumbling block comes when you find out that the biggest problem with vegan proteins is that some of them don't contain a large spectrum of amino acids. What does this mean for us? Amino acids are divided into essential (we get them from food) and non-essential (the body can make them on its own). The more essential amino acids represented in our diet the better the quality of the protein. Most essential amino acids are found in animal proteins - eggs, milk and meat.

Thus, if we use, for example, only rice or pea protein, we will not receive such a high quality protein as whey protein. However, even in this case there is a solution! And that is the intake of different types of plant proteins together. If we do not use the aforementioned pea or rice protein separately, but combine them together, we will get a wider spectrum of amino acids and so the protein formed from our combination will be of much higher quality!

Rostlinné proteiny

However, we don't have to buy two types of vegetable protein separately and combine them together at home. We can find many multi-ingredient plant proteins on the internet that have been created just on the basis of containing the highest quality protein possible. And these multi-ingredient vegan proteins are the ones we should reach for if we already decide to go the plant-based way of nutrition. The quality of plant-based proteins is also affected by whether the product is RAW (has not undergone a heat treatment that would be higher than 45 degrees Celsius). If it is raw, it contains many antioxidants and live enzymes!

Czech Virus MPS-5 Pro Vegan

Some very popular plant-based multi-ingredient proteins include Czech Virus MPS-5 Pro Vegan!

A specialty in itself. If we choose this raw material, we don't have to combine it with other plant proteins. Hemp contains all 23 amino acids, so we don't have to worry that the protein from this superfood is not of sufficient quality. In addition, we find a perfect balance of all the unsaturated fatty acids omega 3,6 and 9.

Quality or a money-maker?

Plant proteins have been neglected for a long time. When they have been mentioned, they have even been despised. Most people based their diets on animal proteins and avoided plant proteins. Why? Because plant proteins were not considered to be of sufficient quality compared to animal proteins. But times have changed and nowadays this phenomenon is moving forward. And we can't help but wonder what benefits have escaped our attention.

If we combine them properly, as we have already noted, the protein will be of sufficient quality. Most plant proteins also contain a fair amount of fiber. They are rich in vitamins and minerals. The body absorbs them faster and much better than animal ones. Our daily nutrient intake should be as varied as possible. Therefore, the additional intake of animal protein in the form of whey protein is not exactly a hit and miss.

One big minus that can be associated with plant-based proteins is the taste. Most manufacturers who deal with vegan protein are mindful of its naturalness, so they find it unnecessary to add chemical sweeteners to a natural product. However, there are those on the market who try to cover as wide an area of customers as possible and for them they create plant proteins with familiar flavours - vanilla and chocolate. So if we choose a plant protein that contains more protein components, we will certainly not make a mistake.

We should remember that protein, whether whey or plant-based, is still just a dietary supplement! Therefore, if we expect it to save us, we are wrong. The basis is a balanced diet, proper and proper training. After that, supplements are something extra to help us achieve our goals along the way...

What do we recommend?

In our article we have already mentioned several times that there are countless plant-based proteins on the nutritional supplement market. However, if we were to give you some advice, definitely think about Nutrend Delicious Vegan protein and Czech Virus MPS-5 Pro Vegan. Robert Humpál from the Supertrener.cz project also recommends the first of the two listed, i.e. the one from Nutrend.
