3 foods that are good to eat before a workout
In a new video I discuss what 3 meals I include before training most often and their rationale. It always only takes me a few minutes to prepare because I don't practice any complicated recipes. I'd be glad if you watch the video, especially if you're not sure what and when to eat before a workout, as it might help you solve that problem.
Pre-workout food should provide us with the energy and macronutrients we need first and foremost, and shouldn't be hard to digest. At the same time, it's not a good idea to go to training hungry as this can have a negative impact on our performance in the gym. I myself used to make some mistakes in my pre-workout meal preparation, both in choosing the right ingredients and timing, which is why I decided to start this topic. So when is the ideal meal to eat before a workout? This is not a completely blanket answer as it can vary from individual to individual. But for many it will be around 1 - 2 hours before training, for some it might be under an hour if they choose just a protein with fruit for example. Every food is digested differently due to its composition and there are some people who digest faster and some who digest slower, so it's good to test when it suits you to consume this food and what you digest well.

I made the mistake in my early days in the gym of having about 40-50 g of oatmeal, 30 g of protein, 20 g of peanut butter and some fruit half an hour before my workout, which was not an ideal choice. But then I read somewhere that it's good to give this combination before a workout, so I just tried it. How do you think I felt after eating this meal for my workout? First of all I felt heavy, I felt the food especially for the first half of the workout, I couldn't focus on the workout because of it, I didn't feel so good and energetic overall, even if I had maybe a coffee or a kicker.
But now I know what works for me and when I should eat that particular food so I can perform well in the gym and therefore move towards my goal!
Eating before a workout is more important than many may think, even if our goal is not to become an elite athlete. Simply, if we want to perform well in the gym, we should address what that food contains and when is optimal for us to have it. Of course, a good workout is not only about this food, but also about everything else we eat during the day, how we sleep and many other things related to a healthy lifestyle. So, if you haven't addressed this until now, I believe that if you start, you may be surprised by the very positive things about training.
