Hard training and hard dieting, nothing else works! Advises Josef Květoň
Last week we published an interview with Pavel Samek, with whom we discussed various fabrications on the Internet. And today we would like to offer you another interview, but this time with a promising young bodybuilder Josef Kveton, who has been fighting for two years to get his professional card. You can find out what stage of training Pepa is currently in, or when we might see him on the competition boards in this article!
Hi Pepa, if I'm not mistaken, you've just started the preparation, haven't you?
Yes, that's right. I started volume training at the beginning of November. I thought I'd start earlier, but unfortunately the work season got longer, which is out of my control.
How do you rate your last season?
Considering the situation I was in (covid-19), when I was on a diet for half a year and all the planned competitions were gradually cancelled, I am glad that I had the opportunity to show at least in Poland. Anyway, this preparation perfectly tested my mental and physical side.
What races do you plan to show up at?
It's hard to say at the moment as not all races are announced. The plan was to race in January, but so far it looks like the beginning of April, because of the situation in the world.
Are you still led by the legend Tomas Bures?
Yes, and I hope it will be so for a long time. I am very satisfied with his leadership and we understand each other humanly.
Do you have any changes in this year's preparation compared to the past years?
There are no big changes. Hard training and hard diet, nothing else works. The only thing I would definitely like to work on is posing.
How will all your preparation go?
I would like to keep the volume up until about mid-January and then immediately switch to a diet that will last for about 2 months. Then the types of training will depend on that. In volume I am doing less exercises with heavy weights and I have more free time.
Nowadays there is a lot of discussion that bodybuilding should slow down and return to the golden era when symmetry and aesthetics were more than volume, what do you think?
I definitely don't agree with that. That's what we have another category for - classic physique. Personally, I'm a proponent of brutal volume and brutal form. But at the same time, it has to go hand in hand with symmetry and not make it look like you're shoveling it on the athlete.
Do you think Shaun Clarida can succeed at the Olympia in the open division?
Depending on what success means. He definitely can't be in the top 5, but he should be in the top 10. I watched the Legion Spotrs Fest Pro competition where Clarida won and I have to say it was well deserved. He literally blew Regan and Sergio away with muscle quality and detail.
Pepa, thank you very much for the interview. Good luck to you!
Thank you also for the interview and good health.
