The Rock Unveiled His New Pre-Workout Shake for Maximum Energy
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson follows a simple rule: your workout is only as good as the fuel you give your body. The former wrestling champion and Hollywood megastar recently shared what pre-workout drink is currently helping him maintain steady, sustained energy even during his toughest workouts.
New Pre-Workout Secret Weapon: Rice and Protein
You might expect some kind of complicated magic formula, but The Rock relies on functionality and simplicity. He recently revealed on his Instagram that he’s currently mixing his favorite protein powder with jasmine rice.
“I’m not exactly reinventing the wheel here, but I’ve started mixing rice with protein to get a fast-digesting pre-workout drink,” Johnson explained .
While his long-time favorite used to be classic Cream of Rice, he says this new version with blended jasmine rice works absolutely great.
“By the time I get to my first set, I’m fully prepared and ready to go all out. I definitely recommend adding this to your rotation and giving it a try,” he adds about the recipe.

What does The Rock drink DURING his workout?
The Rock didn’t stop at just a pre-workout drink. He also revealed to his fans the exact composition of his intra-workout drink (the drink he consumes during the workout itself) to keep his muscles pumped and maximize his performance:
- 50 g of carbohydrates (dextrin)
- 1/2 teaspoon of Himalayan salt
- EAAs (essential amino acids)
- 275–300 mg of caffeine
- 10 g of creatine

Recently, The Rock has made headlines in fitness magazines due to his slightly leaner and more defined physique. Fans and experts speculate that this is either a deliberate “health phase” or preparation for a specific movie role.
Whatever the reason for the weight loss, The Rock certainly isn’t slacking off at his home gym, “Iron Paradise.” Thanks to his new, fast-digesting pre-workout combo, he’s keeping the intensity at a hellishly high level.
