Grandpa? No way! At 65, Jean-Claude Van Damme showed his muscles and laughed rough at the ravages of time
The star of such cult favourites as Blood Sport, Kickboxer and Universal Soldier never ceases to amaze. Even though he has sixty-five crosses on his neck, he regularly proves on social media that he is definitely not out of shape. He still boasts a low body fat percentage, chiseled biceps and a chest that recalls his best years in Hollywood. How does this guy do it?

Ego must have taken a back seat. Today, he's working out with pound weights!
While in his youth JCVD relied on extreme performance, hard drills and heavy weights, as he got older he had to radically change his approach. This is because he discovered that the key to longevity is not lifting nonsense and destroying your joints, but connecting mind and muscle.
"As I got older, I had to balance my training a lot more. I'm approaching it more intelligently and learning from previous experiences so I don't injure my back or legs," the famous Belgian recently revealed.
His current secret in the gym may sound funny to many, but apparently it works brutally well: he trains with extremely light weights.
"Train very light, even with just one kilo. The important thing is absolutely precise, slow movement and a straight back. You may not feel anything at first, but the muscle will gradually learn the correct technique. Your mind and the muscle will connect," advises Van Damme, adding that he exercises to failure, pumping up the muscles without putting unnecessary strain on ligaments and joints.
Training everywhere. Even when brushing your teeth
In addition to light weights, "Muscles from Brussels" does not give up on cardio (most often a stationary bike), stretching and isometric exercises inspired by yoga. Flexibility and mobility are, according to him, the main reason why his body still listens to him and why he can still manage his legendary leg stretch even in retirement.
And when does he exercise? Practically all the time! He practices isometric muscle stretching every day.
"It's the best workout in the world. You can do it in the morning when you brush your teeth, or at night before bed. You'll get your heart rate up and you don't need any equipment at all," the actorboasted .
Age is just a number
While many of his peers are already figuring out just what pills to take for back pain, Van Damme is living proof that discipline and lifelong consistency bear fruit at any age.
So when you don't feel like going to practice today with the excuse that you're "not old enough" or "too tired," remember the sixty-five-year-old Van Damme. If he can do it, you can do it!
