Dorian Yates explains how to get rid of fat stores through strength training
When people go to the gym, it's usually for three reasons - either they want to lose weight, gain muscle, or start moving healthily. But often it's a combination of these three factors. However, since today's times are conducive to obesity, it's no wonder that overweight people want to do something about it and have no choice but to start working out hard. This makes them bet on the type of workout they think is the most suitable one, namely cardio workouts. However, we have written several times on our website that we can burn fat better through strength training or interval training than through ordinary cardio training.
This is also the philosophy of legendary bodybuilder Dorian Yates, who won the Mr. Olympia title from 1992 to 1997. He was on the professional scene for fourteen years and his last competition was Mr. Olympia in 1997. Dorian entered this show despite struggling with acute chronic injuries, including torn biceps and triceps.

Yates trained really hard and spent only the time necessary to train in the gym, which is why he called this style "High Intensity Training". And recently a video was released on this successful bodybuilder's channel that addresses this issue of burning fat through strength training. Yates hypothesized that although cardio exercise uses fat as its primary fuel source, the net fat loss that occurs as a result of strength training is much higher due to increased muscle mass.
Dorian Yates explained that strength training is anaerobic exercise that uses carbohydrates as the primary fuel source. On the other hand, steady-state cardio exercise switches to using fat as fuel 15 to 20 minutes after the workout. Therefore, if your goal is weight loss, it would be best to incorporate heavy dumbbell exercises into your training.
