Crossfit races BcrossChallenge ended the season, a pairs race called WinterClassic!

A report from the Bcross Challenge crossfit races, now in its fifth year.

14.12.2019 Winter Classic!

The end of the crossfit season 2019 took place last weekend 14.12. in České Budějovice. Traditional competitions under the name Bcross Challenge.

Competed in two-person teams

  • SPORT | male + female
  • SPORT | man + man
  • ELITE | male + male

This was our 18th consecutive race in our 5 year history.

The top 48 teams made it through the qualifying rounds, and they battled it out right in our arena.

For the MIX category we had 3 workouts prepared, where the second and third were split into two parts.

SPORT, ELITE men had different disciplines, plus one extra wokout.

Crossfit is all about complexity. This is what our main creator of the workouts, Petr Schlegel, has in mind when he prepares them for these competitions. He is helped and consulted by Martin Balík, who is usually behind the microphone with me. This time he took Petr's place as the main judge.

The readiness of the competitors was really high. It is obvious that this sport is moving and today it is common for the sports category, what used to be for the elite. In the following video you will see a fly-through of the race with interviews.

Now to the race itself.

We published the first discipline from each category two days before the race, the rest the day before. Competitors have to be prepared for everything, that's the beauty of it, they don't know what to expect until the last moment.

Then it was just a matter of arranging tactics with a partner and off we went.

The race was traditionally held in BcrossGY, which is getting too small for these events :) We thought of everything from the warm-up room, facilities for the helpers, refreshments and a relaxation area with masseurs.

The first workout tested the teamwork. A combination of the single arm market and working with your own weight. All repetitions were in synchronous execution. Big problems were squats on one leg, which are not easy in synchro.

The harder version was for the SPORT and ELITE men who had to do 15 minutes of AMRAP (going round and round). It was incredibly exciting until the last second. The fans created a great atmosphere

The second workout in the MIX category tested strict strength. Four minutes to find the maximum weight for the strict press, which is one of the basic exercises to develop shoulder strength. This was followed by a row, front squats and muscleups on the trapeze. The rotation was arbitrary.

The men on the team had 10 minutes of "endless" rowing and barbell. The first result was calories traveled and the second was the number of C&Js, they could also take turns arbitrarily. This is where they really hit rock bottom, to submit the top two results was very challenging.

The last discipline for the MIX category was divided into two parts. Start for men SPORT the same. Next came the technical, part of walking on hands, double jump rope and jumping over a large box. The competitors were really well prepared and walking was not a problem for anyone, even the girls!

The minimum distance was 5m for the men and 2,5m for the girls. Each round the box jump was increased by 5 repetitions.
The second part was a long jump with unlimited attempts within a time limit of 3 minutes.

The elite had strict push-ups in the standing position within 6 minutes. Each athlete had to do 30 double unders unbroken before each attempt. If anyone broke during this, they had to start again.
An incredible 84 handstand push-ups were performed by Petr Spacek and Tomas Hejna from Los Podolos Black, and they won this workout by a large margin of 19 reps.

Everybody had to give their all in the last workout as nothing was decided. There were even three teams in third place in the elite and the fourth team was only three points behind.

10x Rope climb without using legs, 14x 80kg jerk and 20 musclups on rings. A beautiful end to the day of competition.

In the SPORT category, six teams also had the box within reach.

These had finishes in the form of thrusters (squat with expression) and CH2B (deadlift with chest touch), where everything was 10 reps for each member in 4 rounds for each exercise.

We are glad that the whole race was without injuries. The DJ premiere was perfectly managed by Jirka Ježek, whom you may know from Hitradio Faktor. His songs kept the competitors in a great pace throughout the day.
