Chris Bumstead eats 4161 calories a day!
Chris Bumstead is one of the best you could look for in the classic physique division right now. This competitor has placed first at Olympia for the past three years, making him the rightful king of this category. However, after this year's event, Bumstead felt that he was no longer as fit as he used to be and so he ordered himself a forced rest, in which he took up yoga for example.
Chris was supposed to enter training for the 2022 Olympics after his rest, but that didn't quite happen. Are you wondering why? The answer is simple - because he got covid... Yes, even Chris Bumstead couldn't avoid the disease and so his preparation had to wait. But after his recovery, Bumstead was in for a surprise, as he was 28lbs lighter than his usual off-season weight! However, Chris stated that his body fat percentage was normal and so he had only lost muscle mass which was a burden on his body.
Currently, this king of the classic physique division is already in volume training. He has calculated his daily macros intake based on his gender, age, height, weight, activity level and goal. He calculated a rough estimate of his daily caloric intake for the volume phase at:
- Calories - 4161
- Protein - 240 g
- Carbohydrates - 488 g
- Fat - 139 g
According to Bumstead, consuming at least 1 g of protein per pound of body weight is the most important thing during the bulking phase. Most of Chris Bumstead's daily diet comes in the form of two large meals and three smaller ones.
"It's okay to consume a little extra protein, but it proportionately reduces other macros when protein consumption increases."
