Anatomy of the human body - musculus trapezius / trapezius muscle
Often we see that an article mentions a muscle, but not every reader knows what muscle it is. Based on this, we have decided to create a series of articles in which we will discuss the basic anatomy of the human body and introduce the muscles in more detail. Among other things, we will also show you what exercises to use to exercise a given muscle part correctly. We decided to dedicate the first two parts to perhaps the most famous muscles of all - triceps and biceps. This was followed by the front pilovita muscle, the large pectoral muscle, the deltoid muscle and in this article we will focus on the trapezius muscle!

The trapezius muscle was named after the shape formed by the right and left muscles (trapezius - trapezius), it is divided into 3 parts - upper, middle and lower. The upper part lifts the shoulder blades or the whole shoulders, the middle part pulls the shoulder blades towards each other and the lower part pulls the shoulder blades down.
It is a bulky muscle of the superficial layer of the back muscles.
- The beginning of the muscle: Occipital bone, spinous processes of all cervical and thoracic vertebrae
- Extension: clavicle (upper part), scapula (middle and lower part)
- Function: fixation and stabilization of the scapula

What to avoid when exercising the trapezius:
This is what we asked our supertrainer again.
Many people don't recommend strengthening the trapezius muscle on its own because we use it again in foundation exercises such as the deadlift. I, however, am of a different opinion and would always strengthen the trapezius. Not just for muscle development reasons, but just so it's not a weak link in other exercises where you just need to keep the trapezius strong.
If I had to single out one exercise for the trapezius, it would be the farmer's walk. A great comprehensive exercise where we not only strengthen the trapezius, but also the overall posture and grip, which is a weakness for most exercisers.
Basic exercises to strengthen the trapezius muscle:
Farmer's walk
Shoulder shrugs with dumbbell
