Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, but you must carefully monitor your portion sizes! Although these nut flours are full of healthy fats and have minimal carbohydrates (making them ideal for low-carb and keto diets), they are very calorie-dense. If you are on a strict weight-loss diet and counting every calorie, oat or rice flour is often a better choice because they have significantly less fat and total calories per 100 grams.

For perfect, fluffy fitness pancakes, finely ground oat or rice flour is the absolute king. They have a neutral taste and a great, smooth texture. If you need to healthily thicken a sauce, soup, or gravy, reach for buckwheat flour or tapioca starch, which do not form lumps and are very easy to digest.

If you suffer from celiac disease or an intolerance, your best bet will be rice, buckwheat, almond, or coconut flour. Be careful with oat flour—while oats are naturally gluten-free, they are often cross-contaminated during production, so you must always look for a certified "gluten-free" variant. Classic spelt flour normally contains gluten.

Definitely not, be very careful with this! These gluten-free nut flours behave completely differently. Coconut flour absorbs liquids extremely heavily, so you only need to use about a third of it and add more eggs or milk. Almond flour, on the other hand, lacks gluten (the "glue"), so the dough can easily crumble. It is ideal to combine these flours with, for example, oat or spelt flour.

Classic white wheat flour is industrially processed, stripped of most of its nutrients, and acts as "empty calories" with a high glycemic index. In contrast, fitness flours (oat, spelt, almond) retain a massive amount of fiber, vitamins, minerals, and protein. They keep you full for much longer, support digestion, and prevent sharp spikes in your blood sugar.
