Exercise is not just about muscles
I see it in my clients. A lot of them want to improve their physique, lose fat or gain muscle. But some of them mainly want to relieve their psyche, be healthier and relax. In this case, it's mainly very busy freelancers.
The gym is a neglected form of therapy, yet it can really relieve a variety of problems. I speak not only from my own experience, but also from the evidence-based evidence in this regard. So if I leave aside a better and more beautiful body, health, then comes a very important thing in your life and that is the psyche.
Exercise affects not only the physical side of a person. It also has an effect on improving many psychological manifestations. Examples include the positive effect of exercise on improving a depression-laden psyche, reducing anxiety levels, increasing positive self-esteem and strengthening the psyche to combat stress.
Exercise has been shown in a number of research manifestations to have a positive effect on both reduced anxiety, reduced depression and increased levels of positive self-esteem. It doesn't have to be just gym or aerobic type of exercise, such as jogging. Walking, strolling and hiking have a similar effect on older people, for example. Any sporting activity is good for children because it instils a sense of purpose, planning, better health and, above all, keeps them away from the various trappings of modern life, such as alcohol and other drugs.
We often see reports that people who exercise or play sport regularly are better able to cope with the problems of everyday life, just as the opposite is true for those who do not exercise much.
Brown focused first on children aged 7-11 and their physical activity. He found that children who moved little had a greater number of different diseases. In the second phase, he focused on women. He found that a similar law applied to women. Women who do not move enough have a higher incidence of so-called diseases of civilization. But Brown warns us not to consider physical exercise as a panacea for stress.
Benefits of sports activities:
- reducing depression and anxiety
- affecting self-esteem and self-concept
- improving sleep quality
- increasing mental resilience (reducing the risk of mental health pathology)
- health
- purposefulness
Whatever your reason for going to the gym, you will always benefit your body, health and mind! It's not even about your age, exercise benefits children, adults and people of retirement age. It's never too early or too late to start moving, and it doesn't have to be iron exercise.
