The legendary Frank Zane showed his favourite exercise from the golden era

Every bodybuilding fan has surely heard the name "Frank Zane" at some point. This former bodybuilder, who is now 79 years old, is one of the best bodybuilders in history and is even inducted into the IFBB Hall of Fame. Zane has won the Mr. Olympia title 3 times (1977 to 1979) and back then his physique was one of the most aesthetically pleasing to be found on the stage. Frank was born in Pennsylvania on June 28, 1942 and was introduced to exercise as a teenager after reading a weightlifting magazine. From that moment on, exercise became his love for life.

During his storied career, Zane even managed to beat Arnold Schwarzenegger at the 1968 Mr. Universe in Miami, making him one of only three competitors to beat Arnold.

However, Frank was not only successful in bodybuilding, but also in academics. He taught chemistry and mathematics and earned a bachelor's degree in psychology. Being proficient in chemistry, he experimented variously with amino acids and dietary supplements, hence the nickname "the chemist" among his friends. Zane competed for more than 20 years (retiring after the Mr Olympia competition in 1983) and won Mr America, Mr Universe, Mr World and Mr Olympia during his illustrious career.

However, he did not turn away from exercise after retirement, but remained active. This remains true even though this legendary bodybuilder is an incredible 79 years old! He was even recently visited by Mike O'Hearn, who is also one of the legends of the fitness scene. They worked out together and Frank showed Mike an exercise that was considered the most popular in the golden era - the overhead pulley pull-up. Zane also demonstrated a superset using a bungee cord, which was used to rehabilitate his shoulders.
