TeamBattle - Bcross Challenge 2018
Hi, we have a report from the weekend races of the Bcross Challenge series, which took place in České Budějovice.
This year the second race in the series. This time it's a team race in four categories.
For your information we have put here a video from the last race, because the new ones are still in the works and will be awesome.
The whole competition started on Friday at the local Bcross GYM, where the conditions are ideal for organizing a race. Registration was waiting for the 58 two-person teams, it was our biggest indoor organized race to date.
80% of the teams attended Friday's briefing, where we thoroughly went over and explained all the workouts we posted the day before the race.
Petr Schlegel, an experienced crossfitter from Hradec Králové, helped us with the WOD composition. This year he took second place at the CF OPEN in the Czech Republic. Unfortunately he could not attend in person and so he just watched and followed the action on social media.
Saturday's day started at the outdoor swimming pool. Where teams could come to their start according to the schedule.
Each athlete had to swim exactly 200m in any way, where they had a stop every 100m for synchronised exercises of 20 repetitions.
The first were classic English, there it was important to save strength for the last hundred and final pistols. After the English the breaststroke was mostly swum and the first fifty was a breather. Then you could see who had swum and put the rest of their strength into the kraul.
At the end there were squats on one leg. Team members had to wait for each other and finish the workout with a synchronized 20.
The best team to do this was the Bobsleigh team, who did it in 5:35.
Then we moved to the gym and workout number 2!
This had two parts, separately rated. The new BikeErg trainers, which were introduced for the first time at the race, had their premiere. Most of the riders were sitting on them for the first time.
The team had a paddle and a bike to ride at the same time for 6 minutes. They could take turns at any time. Only a few teams took advantage of this alternating option. The result was a calorie count.
The best team from Pilsen (Feiferlík, Bocek) dealt with it. They had a total of 302 cal on their displays.
The second part, which was also 6 minutes long, continued immediately. It consisted of moving the dumbbells to the shoulders (clean). In the workouts you will find a ladder of weights by category. On each weight, the team had to move the barbell a total of 5 times with a minimum of one repetition for each team member.
The Pilseners were again the best at it and dominated the whole workout. Martin Feiferlík was the only one who reached the end of the ladder and did two reps with 140kg.
During the lunch break, the competitors were able to recharge from beef burgers and sweet bullets in the form of irresistible donuts.
Then followed a workout called Carousel. A combination of rope climb, handstand push-ups and KTB snatch. These exercises sufficiently tested the competitors. The "I go you go" system.
First, one person went around one lap and after a high five, a partner could do the same lap.
Each round started with one climb. The elite category was not allowed to use their legs for the climb. Then the round started on two repetitions of the handstand push-up and ktb snatch. Each subsequent round the counts for the handstand push-ups and ktb snatch were increased by two repetitions.
An option for the mixed pairs was HR pushups for the woman - pushups with handstand snatch. In the two-woman category, one had to do pushups in the handstand and the other had to do pushups on the ground. The elite category then went strict handstand pushups.
Here was a huge battle in the last heats of the elite category, where it was exciting until the very end. Three teams battled it out for the top spot and raced for one pack until the last second.
In the end, the Prague team had only one less repetition than the Wild Eggs and the Vovarový heads team. However, the team from the previous heat beat them by another 12 reps. The winner from the elite category of this wod was Team Gorilla.
Nothing was decided before the finals and the standings could still be shuffled quite a bit. That's why all teams gave their best in the last workout.
FRAN
A very famous crossfit workout. Combination of thruster (squat with expression) and deadlifts 21-15-9. All in synchronous execution. This was a tiebreaker and no one wanted to drop down the rankings.
The elite category had 60kg on the barbell and the deadlifts were weighted by touching the chest bar. Each exercise is done in the same count then reps are taken. So three rounds in total.
This is where the decisions were made and most teams did not hold on to first place. In the end, the elite Prague team defended their victory from December 2017 by a single point. Let's take a look at the results. You can find the overall results here.
