Whey protein from grass-fed cows? A marketing ploy, thinks Pavel Samek
Pavel Samek, who represents the company Prom-in, wrote a few lines under his post on Instagram, which deal with the term "GRASS FED" - this label some companies have started to put on the packaging of their whey proteins. And the full content of that post can now be found below:
Whey protein from grass-fed cows
Are you familiar with this formula? And have you thought about the fact that it de facto means almost nothing! Why? Simply because almost every cow is grass-fed for some part of the year. It's the cheapest feeding option.
It's just a marketing gimmick! Yes, you understand correctly. All whey protein on the market is from grass-fed cows. And let me tell you another secret.Due to the fact that many of the companies in the EU who specialise in processing milk for whey protein products are based in a place with a much milder climate than ours, their cows graze outside for most of the year.
Now I'll admit it, because we at Prom-in use whey protein made in Ireland ourselves in our production. Where the cows really do graze almost all year round. I took the liberty of mentioning this on the packaging of our CFM STÉVIA.
But it's definitely not the crucial information you should be looking for on the packaging! I will ask you to look for other things on the products. And it is also my recommendation. Two things I think are essential!
Read the ingredients, that is, what the product is made of. This is more important to me than the nutritional values.
In the ingredients, look at what the product is colored with, flavored with, sweetened with, and possibly stabilized and preserved with. (We avoid preservatives in products as much as possible as a matter of principle. Even Pure Bars are only stabilized with vitamin E, and lactic acid.)
So try to jump less on the advertising bullshit and more on the important stuff. Next time I will explain why sometimes a tablet contains significantly less additives than a capsule. Or another type of advanced fabrication that's trending in fitness.
