What are the benefits of eating sunflower seeds?

Sunflower seeds are a source of a variety of different substances and therefore have a number of different benefits for our health when eaten in moderation. At least the following are worth mentioning:

They can support the immune system

As mentioned above, sunflower seeds contain a variety of different vitamins and minerals. In addition to vitamins B and E, they also contain zinc and selenium, two minerals that are extremely important for the proper functioning of our immune system. They can be anti-inflammatory

Although it may sound a bit unbelievable, according to some studies, regular consumption of sunflower seeds can actually be anti-inflammatory. According to research, people who regularly include these seeds in their diet have much lower levels of C-reactive protein, which is an important indicator of inflammation in the body. This effect can be attributed mainly to the influence of vitamin E. However, it is important to note that correlation does not necessarily imply causation, and therefore the lower C-reactive protein levels may be due to an overall higher quality of lifestyle rather than just the seeds themselves.

They are suitable for diabetics

Since sunflower seeds are a source of protein and fat, adding them to foods can reduce their resulting glycaemic index. For example, you can add them to any home-baked bread, which, in addition to the above benefits, will also taste great. On the other hand, you need to be careful on a reduction diet, because seeds are a very rich source of calories and could easily make you exceed your recommended calorie intake.
