Palte fat with ellagic acid

The exciting title is misleading!

Magazines and websites around the world love such headlines. Drink red wine for health! And moms and drinkers alike are joining in. Yes, tell me something I've been doing for a long time is healthy.

A little alcohol will probably have some beneficial effects, but many of them can be achieved without indulging in 1700 unnecessary calories a week (2 glasses of red wine a day).

Several recent studies have examined the health potential of red wine and found its best ingredient to be ellagic acid. It seems that this substance can slow down the growth of fat cells and the formation of new ones. And you can enjoy these benefits without taking in a single extra calorie.

Study

One Oregon State University study exposed human fat and liver cells to chemicals found in red wine. Ellagic acid improved fatty acid metabolism in liver cells and slowed the growth and formation of new fat cells.

A second study by the Universities of Florida and Nebraska took a group of mice and fed half of them red grape extract and a diet rich in fat. They were pretty lazy bitches, so they didn't even get much exercise.

The group that didn't get the extract started suffering from symptoms of excess fat in the liver and diabetes. The group of mice that received the extract accumulated less fat in their livers and had lower blood sugar levels.

In fact, their values were comparable to those of sculpted mice fed only a healthy diet.

How? Higher levels of PPAR-alpha and PPAR-gamma activity, proteins that metabolize fat and sugar inside the cell.

How to use this information

You could add to your diet Grape juice. However, many people avoid sugary juices. Or you could eat a few hundred grams every day. of red grapes. You can indulge in your Merlot, of course, but it will be slightly counterproductive, because the alcohol itself temporarily stops the body's fat-burning mechanisms.

Another option is Pomegranatewhich is a good source of ellagic acid. But again, you would have to eat quite a lot of it, which would also bring in quite a few calories.
