NOBULL CrossFit Games 2021 | Results
CrossFit communities around the world couldn't wait to watch the biggest CrossFit competition in the world - the CrossFit Games - again after one year. This year, they changed their biggest partner (Rebook) to the Nobull brand, which was worn by all the competitors. However, the thing people were most looking forward to at this year's Games was definitely the question of who would be the best male CrossFitter. And people were asking that question because during last season, Mathew Fraser, the best male crossfitter to date, announced the end of his racing career.

Czechoslovak athletes
As crazy as it may seem, we were able to see Czechoslovak athletes at this year's Games again. Competing under the Czech flag was Honza Hanák, who took a great tenth place in the 35-39 years category. In the same age category, but for women, Aneta Tucker, who lives with her husband in the UK but competes under our Czech flag, took third place.
And from our eastern brothers, František Heribán took a look at the Games. He competed in the same category as Honza Hanák, but Franta came in a great sixth place!
František Heribán:
It was great. It was an experience. But it was also stressful. It all started a month before our departure, when we were told that it was almost impossible to enter the USA and that started the cycle of dealing with various permits and the need to get vaccinated. Just when it seemed that everything was ok, 10 days before our departure came the injury to our left hand (dislocated finger). For a week we were unable to lift anything heavy, hang on a trapeze, or push over our heads. On the day of departure, an x-ray was taken which fortunately ruled out a fracture (joint pulled out of its socket and a ligament tear. But who could resist the opportunity to look at the games????
The wish was for 8 running wods and one at Bike Erg. (surprisingly Dave didn't share my view on the matter). Travel and accommodation went as planned. Registration and packing up stuff - a little fantasy land. Feels like an athlete for the first time. Everybody's running around you, taking pictures... Everyone is smiling (and it's not a pose). I'm already full of how the hell am I going to stuff this in my suitcase for the ride home? Day 1. Wod 1. Run (lucky me) . 7.2km I was wishing for 10+ but this is good too. Running 6 laps of 1.2km. Coach F3 and I do tactics . 5min/km first 5km , then speed up as needed. Don't let the crowd get to us, but don't let them get away. In the warm-up room, Zátopek, Pribilinec and Kipchoke everywhere you look. 3-2-1 beep. I'm sprinting. Either I or they didn't read the distance. First lap 4:50 - 1200mt. You can't keep this up. Luckily, I don't even know how, I kept it up, and then I pulled away at the end. 1st place. I can go home. I'm happy. F3 doesn't believe it, the follovers are jumping in.
Wod2. 5RFT:
Normally a dream wod. But now with no power in my finger the goal is to survive. Everything came together well though and I'm taking the 5 flek. Inside I know the top 3 was real. But satisfaction #2.
- 1LL RC 6.2mt + 5 DL 153 KG
Wod3:
From the last 28 races. 17x max on the snatch. You don't want that. I'm going with the goal of writing 90 and trying for 95 ( I'm praying in the corner for 100 ). I'm taking the blue , green ( 80 ) easy. I'll add a black ( 90 ) heavy, but I will. They don't have the red 2.5. So the blue 2kg will do. For the second time, but 94 is better than nothing. Then I try 100, but I can't do it anymore. 94, EE we're in the US here it's harder and she's black 5 was 7.5. 20, not 20. So I'm putting down 102. Surprise and delight even if only 13th place. After day 1, 3rd place!!!
- 1RM snatch
Day 2. Wod 4:
Cheeper 84cal Con.bike 42 Ghd 9k 42 Fs 2x22.5 25 mt hs walk 42 Squat bag 70 kg 25 mt hs walk.
Heavy, very heavy. After day 1 and DL my back is not holding up anymore and sand bag 70 for 42 squats is too much. I'll take 10th place and I'm glad for it.
We have 40 min and we're going to wod 5. They're loading us on buses and taking us to the lake. Anyone who knows me knows that Snatch and Swim are my 2 worst events. 500m open lake swimm. I'm praying for 2 things. Don't get dragged out and don't be last. The world has gone crazy. People are cheering ( Heriban is back in game ) , F3 is wiping the lens on his cell phone and laughing in disbelief. I won the swim at the crossfit games. Koski, Toomey, Heriban.
Wod 6:
30 cal row 15 Caj 70 kg 50 mt sled push 80kg.
Unnecessarily overdone. I rode a slow row ( 1400cal/hr) . CaJ in ones. Couldn't catch up on the sequence. 10th place. I close the day with 7th place overall!!! Let's go to the last day. Finger swollen. I slept for 4 hours. My head's in the sand.
Wod 7. For time:
15-12-9 Bmu 30 cal Ski erg 100 souls in the grass. Finally trapeze. First and last. I want this wod to go my way no matter what. I'm holding on to 2nd place behind Hobart. I loosen my grip on the second lap and tear a callous on my right hand, then my left hand, but I hold 2nd place.
Wod 8:
7min Amrap 10 cal Echo 10 burpee ower box
The tactic was to hold the pace for 5 min and then speed up. That did work , but the boys were faster. 8th place and hope for the box falls. Even the theoretical one.
The final:
10-8-6-4-2
Wall climb and Thru 82.5 kgDeath to me. I couldn't even get into a handstand or push my axis up. My head was no longer working either. 9th place. For me, the worst performance I've shown here. Final placement, 6th place. Those who know me know I'm not satisfied. It was top five. If I had a good arm, I'd be confident of more. Maybe next time.
