Interview with bodybuilder Lukas Rejholc, new pro!
One of the new Czech professional bodybuilders is Lukáš Rejholec, who received his professional card at the GP Pepa Opava 2021. In this interview we will get to know how Lukáš perceives bodybuilding, but also learn about Lukáš's approach to this beautiful sport.
Hi Lukáš, first of all I would like to congratulate you on winning valuable metals at the GP Pepa Opava 2021 competitions.
Hello to all bodybuilding fans. Thank you and yes, I managed to win again. This time I was also satisfied with my form.
If I'm not mistaken, you didn't just get medals, you also got a pro card, right?
Yes, that's right. I won both the junior bodybuilding category and then the men's up to 90kg. Where there were 12 guys. Then the top 3 from all the weight categories advanced to the evening super final, where I was the youngest and almost the lightest. However, unexpectedly I also won absolutely and won the pro card in elite pro.
What does that mean to you?
Honestly, it means nothing to me. Just that I do it well and have the genetics and shapes to do it. It doesn't change the preparation and mindset though. I'm still a humble and normal guy who does what he enjoys and does it the best he can. 100% attitude and learning new things and information everyday.
What are your ambitions for the future?
In the future, Mr. Olympia 212. I believe that if I gain another 15 kg. I'm at 82kg now. And keep the shape and aesthetics that I have, it'll be easy to make the top rungs. I have the highest goals, the mindset of a champion. So now I just have to work hard and keep learning and getting to know my body.
How long have you been waiting for your pro card?
I didn't wait for anything. I was just waiting for a proper life form and now it's happened. So that alone was a win for me and nothing else mattered. Winning is just a bonus and the subjective feelings of the judges.
Did you go into these races for a clear win?
I went for my best form... I don't affect my placing, but I do affect my form. That's why I corrected and improved all the mistakes from the last races and came out with great form. If I hadn't had the form I wanted and imagined and still won, I wouldn't have been happy or excited at all.
Are you your own coach or is someone guiding you?
Yes, I'm my own coach. Only I can know my body perfectly and know how I function and what my body responds well to. It's hard to take food at the end, but where there is a will there is a way. I myself am a coach of many athletes and mentees. As a result, this experience also helps me with my own preparation. And, as I've written before, I'm constantly educating myself and learning the latest methods of training, diet, supplementation, human hormones and health. I have listened to 1000's of hours of international podcasts from some of the best trainers in the world. I have read several books and watched months of youtube videos. Still, you have to find your own direction and path from all that information. Test it out on yourself and determine what will be best and most suitable.
What races are you currently targeting?
Currently I have 4 weeks until the BFC cup in Liberec. This year it's a big international competition with the possibility of winning a Pro Card. I would love to get some top places again or even win it for the second time and make sure it wasn't a mistake and I have a future amongst the pros. Although I won't accept it now. I still have time and there is no rush. I'd rather be winning in the amateurs for 3 more years than being in last place in the pros all the time. Then I'll be happy to move up and take the top rungs straight into pro. Anyway, the goal (for the future) is definitely NPC, because there is only one PRO.

What are your weaknesses and what do you need to work on?
Heh. There's a lot of weaknesses. Hamstrings, glutes, lower back, back width, front shoulder width. I'm gonna get right into improving my weaknesses as soon as I can after the races. Of course, it will take not months, but years before I can make up for those weaknesses in any respectable way. Everything takes its time. Muscles don't grow overnight. But we all know that. :)
Are you betting on any supplements?
Yes, and especially now before the races, when the diet is more stereotypical. That's why it's good to supplement with vitamins and minerals from a supplement. Anyway, I'm a stickler for the best quality and forms of vitamins. So supplementation costs me around 7,000 a month. I try to use all possible supplements and every supplement has its benefits and place. When everything is combined and put together well, even supplementation can help a lot. Still, the foundation is a quality diet, which also needs to be as high quality as possible. That's why I get my beef from the slaughterhouse, my fish from the farm and my poultry, eggs and kefir from the farmer. Vegetables the same. Just quality and local stuff first.
What advice would you give to beginners who are just thinking about racing?
To keep educating themselves and gathering information from multiple sources and then try everything out for themselves and find what fits and works for them. Alternatively, find an experienced coach who has been through all this and knows what they are doing. As a result, he or she can already guess what might suit a given mentee and help point them in the right direction. I certainly wouldn't go into anything without thinking it through. Think it all through and look well into the future to see what negative benefits it might have. In this day and age, everyone is immediately thinking about banned substances and yet they don't even know their body, haven't reached any level of muscularity, haven't tried any diets or competitions. He doesn't know what his muscles look like, his shape, or if he has any predisposition or genetics for the sport at all. I absolutely don't understand people who don't have the genetics or potential and yet they take something. And yet they still look like average exercisers.
Is there something you'd like to say to someone?
As I was saying. Think everything through before you do anything. Talk to somebody sensible about it, and then get started. It's the same with girls on diets. They don't know anything about it, they read somewhere that they should eat 1 apple and carrot a day... After 2 weeks they get wasted and then it takes maybe a few years to get back to optimal levels hormonally. I've had plenty of clients like that too. Girls see their role models on social media promoting certain products/diets and don't realize that it's just paid advertising and that they are only supposed to sell the products, yet they don't even have to use them themselves. So think and ask the more experienced :)
Lukas, thank you so much for your time and we wish you the best of luck in the future.
Thank you also. Hopefully this has helped, motivated or changed someone's approach to an overall healthy lifestyle and exercise a bit. Anyway, if anyone likes my approach and has any problems, they can contact me and I will be happy to give them my opinion and try to help them. Have a great day and keep it growing. Bye!
