Train like a pro! How did the legendary Frank Zane train?

Although he never gained the same reputation as Ronnie Coleman or Arnold Schwarzenegger, Frank Zane is undoubtedly a legend in the bodybuilding world, whose aesthetics are the envy of many contemporary athletes. However, the now eighty-one-year-old former athlete shared his training program in a recent YouTube interview, so you can be inspired by it too.

In fact, Zane has trained throughout his career using the so-called triple training split, which recommends training muscle parts that work together at the same time. Therefore, he did back, biceps and forearms in one workout, followed by legs the next day and then chest, shoulders and triceps on the third day. Within each workout, Frank also strengthened the abdominal muscles. This was followed by a rest day and the whole process was repeated again.

"I also do some aerobic exercise, which is basically 12 minutes on a treadmill, bike or rowing machine. I also do a number of stretching exercises. After I do a set, I immediately do stretching and hold for 10-15 seconds," says the bodybuilding veteran.

Like Arnold, Frank Zane, in his glory days, sometimes trained twice a day. Thanks to his knowledge, he is now a vital senior whose advice can still be taken to heart by anyone. And it is his splitting of workouts according to cooperating parts that makes sense even today - we mentioned more about him, for example, in the push and pull days in the article How to effectively divide the parts into a training split?
