Pavel Beran took Pavel Koukal for back training
Pavel Beran, who is not only a member of the Czech Virus team and the EVLS Prague Pro team, but also a professional bodybuilder competing in Jim Manion's IFBB Professional League, has been enjoying his cooperation with the icon of this sport, world-renowned trainer and nutritionist George Farah for over a year.
Last season was not the season he dreamed of for Paul, as he had to deal with recovering from health problems suffered in the early part of the 2021 season. Firstly, it was a quadriceps rupture that prevented him from getting the leg training he needed, and because of this his legs were significantly more delicate than his upper body. Another injury was a torn rotator cuff in his shoulder. This required surgery, which Paul underwent early last year.
To make matters worse, he was also dealing with a torn meniscus, which also required surgery.
Due to all these factors, Pavel decided that during the 2022 season he wanted to make at least a start in front of his home crowd at the EVLS Prague Pro 2022, where his goal was to get a better placing than he did at the 2021 edition, where he finished ninth.
In the end, he managed to take seventh place in the Prague Hilton Hotel, where the EVLS Prague Pro 2022 competition was held, and offered the audience a really great show.
He then took to the competition stage once more, in Romania, at the Wings of Strength Romania Muscle Fest Pro 2022, where he placed 12th.
However, placing was not what the Beran - Farah pair were interested in. Their main concern was to see how Pavel's body would react to a completely different type of end to his pre-competition training. So we are very curious to see how the preparation will develop this year, when, hopefully, everything will go according to plan.
Gearge Farah is mainly looking after Pavel's nutrition and supplementation, but as far as training is concerned, he doesn't interfere with it in any significant way and so it is purely Pavel's responsibility.
Compared to his early days, Pavel no longer emphasizes high weights, but his main goal is to keep the muscle under tension for as long as possible and force it to fail.
So nowadays you won't see him lifting extreme weights or performing fast reps in the gym, but instead you will see a "lazy man" who performs each repetition long and with complete feeling.
We can now take a look at one such workout. Pavel recently took on his namesake, Pavel Koukal, and showed him what back training can look like.
