Dorian Yates is still in shape after 60! What does his current leg training look like?
One of the living bodybuilding legends is undoubtedly Dorian Yates, who, like Arnold, shows that age is just a number. In a recent video, the holder of a total of six Mr. Olympia titles showed off his massive quadriceps and calves, while also giving viewers a peek under the hood of his current training.
For Dorian, health is an absolute priority after retiring from bodybuilding. At a recent examination of his overall health and Vo2 max, for example, they found that he boasts the biological age of a person between 30 and 39. And of course, this translates into his training - although he trained hard and to the limit in his glory days, he currently prefers cardio, cycling and just a few weight training exercises.
''Gone are the days when I was lifting 1500 pounds on the legpress and had 6 discs on each side on Smith's squat machine. But a lot of the muscles and their definition still remain. Currently I'm really only doing seated leg extensions, two hamstring exercises in the seated and lying position, and squats with my own weight at the end too. As for the calves, I haven't done any lunges in years. Now I maintain them mostly by walking. But of course I have a good diet with plenty of protein and not too many carbohydrates.''
Although Dorian has been retired from bodybuilding for several years, he still has a lot to say and is one of the most respected bodybuilders of all time. He appears on various podcasts from time to time, gives his opinions on current competitors and clearly hasn't stopped his active lifestyle even at 62 years old.
