Derek or Samson? Who will win the following Mr. Olympia contests according to Ronnie Coleman?

In the world of bodybuilding, there are a number of athletes who can be described as legends without exaggeration. However, even among them there are those whose prestige exceeds the limits of this sport many times over. Apart from Arnold, such a figure is also the holder of eight Mr. Olympia titles Ronnie Coleman, who is famous for his hard training and despite various health complications still works hard in his gym. And, of course, he also reviews current athletes.

When Ronnie was asked last year who would win the Olympia, he put his cards on Derek Lunsford, who, as we reported in our in-depth coverage of the competition a few months later, actually did. So it's understandable that when the legendary Ronnie Coleman appears in an interview, the question is also directed at his predictions for this year.

And that's exactly what came up in Ronnie's current interview with renowned IFBB professional division judge Terrick El Guindi. The latter asked the holder of the highest number of Mr. Olympia titles ever first about whether Derek Lunsford will retain his title this year, whereupon Ronnie responded with his iconic "Yeah, buddy," a phrase he has made famous in various training videos from his gym.

More interesting, however, was his next answer when Terrick asked if Derek would succeed in establishing a new "dynasty", i.e. if he had what it takes to become the next Ronnie Coleman and dominate bodybuilding's most prestigious competition for the next few years. Ronnie answered in the negative, suggesting that Samson Dauda was more suited to the role:

"I think he could be the next Ronnie Coleman, but he has to train like Ronnie Coleman, eat like Ronnie Coleman and do all the other things I did. So it's not going to be easy, but anything is possible."

he said about the likable bodybuilder, who decided to continue competing after this year's Olympia and thus collected valuable metals from Romania Muscle Fest PRO or EVLS Prague PRO 2023.

And so while Derek Lunsford announced that he will appear at this year's Olympia, Samson, who as a bronze medalist and winner of two professional competitions is of course also qualified, plans to continue competing. He is also expected to appear at the upcoming Arnold Classic in Ohio, USA. And of course we will be there to inform you in a separate report.
