Romania Muscle Fest PRO 2023: Huge success for the Czech team! Complete results

Most of the bodybuilding fans have not even had time to absorb the impressions from Olympia, which we informed you about in several separate reports from the competitions, and already another competition is ahead of us. Romania Muscle Fest PRO as usual promised a really packed starting field, where in addition to a number of successful foreign bodybuilders will also present several Czech competitors in the open, men's physique, women's bodybuilding and figure categories. How did they fare? And how did the competitions look like? That's what we will look at in this report.

Romania Muscle Fest PRO 2023

Pre-competition predictions

Although at first glance, ignorant bodybuilding fans might get the impression that the competitions in Bucharest, Romania, will not be of the highest level, a quick glance at the start list would lead them astray. In the open category there will be 18 competitors, including three fighters from the Czech Republic - Pavel Beran, Honza Turek and Pavel Červinka. And although they were expected to be in great shape, it was clear that they would not have it easy in the intense competition of foreign competitors. Among others, the bronze medalist from Olympia Samson Dauda was planning to show up at the competition.

Although he has secured automatic qualification for the upcoming edition, he can still prevent the main potential competitors from qualifying and of course, above all, score another professional victory. However, Nathan de Asha, who despite qualifying did not show up at the Olympia due to problems with his stay in the United States, will try to measure his strength against him. A win at these competitions would give him enough time to not only solve these problems, but more importantly to prepare the form that would put him among the best bodybuilders in the world. But of course, Andrea Presti, who came 12th from Olympia, and Iranian pro Behrooz Tabani, who dominated this event last year, are also going to enter the medal fight.

Race course - Men's open

Already during the preliminary round it was clear that three bodybuilders would emerge from a relatively wide starting field and they showed truly phenomenal form. They were, somewhat as expected, Samson Dauda with starting number 10, Behrooz Tabani with number one and Nathan de Asha with number two. It was this trio that deserved the most attention in the first call-up, but it should be noted that the Brazilian rider Marcello de Angelis, known as Horse, also showed surprisingly good form.

And although it was clear during the prejudging that this foursome would probably represent the top competitors of the evening, the specific positions were not so clear. All of the riders showed great form and each had a different pose to suit each of them.

Then, in the finals, which took place at 3pm our time, the competitors were given another opportunity to show off their skills. However, nothing special happened that would radically shuffle the cards dealt during the prejudging, and when the winners were announced many spectators still had no idea of the final standings. In the end, Nathan de Asha came in fourth place, somewhat expectedly, and Marcello de Angelis took third place. Second place went to Behrooz Tabani, who showed a truly phenomenal form on the boards today and if he had been up against anyone other than one of the best bodybuilders on the planet, he would have had more than a decent chance of winning. However, Samson Dauda confirmed his role as the favorite and gave his opponents no chance. Although he no longer needs a nomination for Mr. Olympia 2024, he can at least enjoy the financial reward associated with winning the category.

Women's physique category

Although in the most charged open category no Czechs touched the precious metal, this was not the case in the other categories. Tereza Linhartová showed great form in a packed starting field, finishing 11th at Olympia last week, where she showed her strength together with her sister Gabriela. This time, thanks to the victory in her category, she earned qualification for the 2024 Olympics and can give her body a well-deserved rest. And given that she managed to move up 5 places between 2022 and 2023 at the most prestigious bodybuilding competition in the world, we can't help but keep our fingers crossed that she can repeat her progress. In addition to qualifying for the Olympia, Tereza has also earned herself a cash prize of $2,000.

Men's physique category

Also in the men's physique category the Czech Republic had its representative and that was the successful pro Miroslav Juříček. And it was already clear during the prejudging that he was on his way to a sensational result. He was in the first call-up and to make matters worse, he stood right in the middle of the line together with the Brazilian competitor Carlos de Olivera. In the final, what few would have expected before the competition happened, Miroslav Juříček walked to victory in such a prestigious race and earned himself a qualification for the Olympics.

The category up to 212 pounds

In addition to the open category, the prestigious Romania Muscle Fest PRO also hosted the highly watched 212lb category. However, there ended up being significantly fewer competitors than in the other categories, and of all the well-prepared competitors, Ahmad Ashkanani, Christian Zagarella or Bulgarian competitor Radoslav Angelov could have claimed victory. However, years of experience clearly spoke in favour of the first of the above mentioned competitors and the Kuwaiti representative and one time silver medallist from Olympia also qualified for the upcoming edition of the prestigious competition. The second place went to Christian Zagarella, a bit unexpectedly, while the third place went to Radoslav Angelov. Fourth place was taken by Alexandru Vasile Uta, who a day earlier became the winner of the associated amateur race and the top five was rounded off by Lucas García.
