Fit Monster 2016

Hi, we haven't done any filming in a while, we had school commitments. Now we are back and will bring you more articles and videos.

Last weekend one of the biggest CF competitions in our country took place in Brno, under the name Fit Monster 2016. It was the 3rd edition. Last year I participated as an open competitor, I came in 6th place out of 90 athletes. I really enjoyed the race so it was clear that I wouldn't miss it this year.

This year we went with more people, where we joined forces with friends from České Budějovice, who train in PPC. We also brought along some fans who were really familiar and thanks to them, we were always able to get a few more reps. The whole weekend we went to enjoy ourselves. Meeting friends and making new friends from other gyms around the country.

The sun was our favourite this year, it heated up the bars, warmed up the dumbbells and gave our bodies a nice tan. There is nothing better than outdoor competitions. There was a huge arena in the middle of the stadium with axles, ktb's, rows, medicine balls, trapeze, lowered ropes with rings and hspu retaining walls. Surrounding the area were stalls with equipment, clothing, accessories, refreshments and fans making a great atmosphere, in short everything as it should be.

Something about the race... For the first time the elite category. I know I have to get strong, otherwise I have nothing to do there, but I wanted to test myself. After a month's holiday abroad and a complete rest, I've been preparing for this race for 3 months. First the strength part and as the race date approached, I increased the intensity of my training, building my fitness and muscular endurance. And how did it turn out?

The first wod right away was the row, which is lacking in most gyms, combined with deadlifts. The trapeze doesn't give me a problem, but 20 chest pull-ups in 4 rounds does. I have to say though, I did pretty well. I only didn't finish 20 pull-ups. I was very pleased with that.

Next up were the thrusters, where the weight was lifted and reps were taken off, the goal was to get to 90kg. I did it, and now it was all or else. The previous weight lifted got counted and I didn't get over 90, still satisfied.

Third wod of day one, squat on one leg with walking handstand handstand ending pushups. Pistol cool, walking with pushups went well too. I just need to fine tune it, my legs were bent when walking and I bounced off the wall twice because of it. Moving on to the next day.

WOD 1 elite, 8 min time cap
4 ROUND
20x cal (calorie on the rower)
20x ch2b (chest pull)

WOD 2, Thruster "ladder" emom 50/10s
10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 max/reps
30 40 50 60 70 80 90 100 110 120 kg

WOD 3, 5 rkound, 8 min time cap
20x alt pistols over bar / squat on one leg with axial jump
5m hs walk UB/ walk for a year in a row
5-4-3-2-1 hspu UB / handstand push-up

My goal was to get to 4 wods and get the most out of myself there. But I knew I had a small chance of making it to 5 wods. That gave me strength. I didn't mind the run, then came the wallballs, I'm still struggling with them, I guess it's because I'm 5'2 :D . There were supposed to be 40, I wanted to split it into two. In the end I was happy to finish it off at about 10x, followed by the KTB stack. It went well 6x5 alternating hands and it was there. Then came the OHS, legs tired from Saturday and it showed, I ended up with an 8rep count. I was 12 ohs and 10 burpees over the barbell short of meeting the wod time limit.

WOD 4, 10min time cap
800m run
40x wallball 9kg / squat with mediball dump
30x ktb gtoh 28kg / ground to overhead (ktb snatch)
20x ohs 70kg / squat with barbell overhead
10x lat. burpee over bar / English front squat over barbell

Check out what it looks like at the competitions, cut from 1-4 WOD.

Then the cut was down to 28 competitors and I didn't even hope I could get in. I go to look at the results and see myself above the line of advancement. For me personally, it was an achievement. I'm gathering the rest of my strength and we're going for it. Fifth wod repositioning, muscleups and a legless rope climb ending in MU again.

The first 16 reps went pretty well, trapeze MU like nothing and now it was rope. Again, this is the furthest I've gotten with my height to the 4m rope. Up and down 6 times, took me quite a long time, arms burnt, clips welded off, finishing mu. On the second round, someone easily put me on the barbell :) 14 reps was incredibly hard. Trapeze cool and I go to the rope, which I fight to the end of the time cap.

WOD 5, 3 round, 9min time cap
16/14/12x p.clean 80kg / repositioning
3/2/1x bar mu / muscleup on trapeze
6/4/2x rope climb / rope climb (no legs)
3/2/1x bar mu / muscleup on trapeze

Luckily we had another handcuff in the race, Ivanka Bauer, only 17 years old, who trains with me. In the open category she broke into the top 10. In the final she was not surprised by anything and finished in 3rd place, 6th overall. As a coach I am very proud of her and I know that she will show it to the girls in the future.

FINAL WOD 6
150 DU / double jump
4x bear complex+ohs 90kg / relocated+fs+stack+b.squat+ohs
100x DU
8x squat snatch 70kg / squat snatch
50x DU
16x ring mu / muscle ups on rings

There were 250 competitors of all categories. It was only the 3rd year and I dare to say that it is one of the best races in the Czech Republic. High level, great people and most importantly everything runs as it should. It was a great experience and great motivation. We are looking forward to next year.
