Magnesium stearate is used as a lubricant - it prevents the capsules from catching on the production line. In combination with water and soap, it forms an insoluble substance, which forms, for example, the typical non-removable rings on bathtubs. Shellac is a resin secreted by the female lac worm, an insect native to India. The sheets of this resin dissolve in ethyl alcohol to form liquid shellac, which is used as a varnish and glaze. These substances are commonly used in dietary supplements, medicines and foods. They are not found in Viridian supplements.
