What flavours are winning with you? Protein Comparison
I'm sure you've heard the saying, "A hundred people, a hundred flavors." Each manufacturer uses different ingredients for flavouring and the result is therefore also different. But let's take a look at what flavors stand out in the top nine most popular proteins, according to our customers.
1st place - Prom-In CFM Pure Performance
Prom-In CFM Pure Performance has long been perhaps the most popular protein ever. And no wonder, it has a great formula, doesn't cost too much money,... and most of all, it tastes good. It may not offer dozens and hundreds of flavours, but you'll be perfectly happy with whichever one you choose. So what did you like?
What flavour do you think is the best?
If we had to name one and only one flavour that really caught your eye, it would be vanilla. You like it with water, milk, cottage cheese and various baked and unbaked desserts. Chocolate and iced coffee also get good reviews, but unlike vanilla, there are some not-so-enthusiastic reviews from time to time. So if you want to be sure, go for vanilla.
Are there non-traditional flavours?
Of course. Probably the least typical are the exotic, pistachio and piña colada variants. And while they are indeed unconventional, they're certainly not bad. From time to time, some of you complain about artificial reverberations (which of course occur from time to time with these types of proteins), but most of you rate all three variants very positively.
How do we rate CFM Evolution?
CFM Evolution cannot be evaluated in any other way than positively. The flavours may not be as distinctive as those from other companies, but they are very pleasant and you won't get overwhelmed so easily. We were most impressed by the pistachio and piña colada, in which you can also find whole chunks of pineapple, and especially in summer with a few ice cubes, both variants are really refreshing.
2nd place - Bodybuilding.com New 100% Whey Protein
On our own, we wouldn't include our own protein in this ranking at all. But when nearly 500 of you agreed that it belongs here and gave it a combined score of 4.84 out of five, we couldn't protest. And of course we're glad we did, because we made a resolution before launching the protein that we wanted to create a quality supplement that tasted great and was available at a people's price. And apparently we did.
What flavour do you think is the best?
So far we've made this protein in 4 available flavours, with vanilla latte and salted caramel being the best rated. You like that the taste is balanced and that they can be used almost anywhere. On the other hand, some of you think our marzipan could be stronger and you definitely wouldn't recommend it in cottage cheese, for example, where both vanilla and caramel stand out well.
Are there any unusual flavours?
Actually, all flavours are a bit unconventional and whether you choose salted caramel, marzipan, vanilla latte or milk cocoa, you can enjoy a taste you've never tried in any other protein. But at the same time, we've kept it relatively low-key with the flavors, so no flavor is overly wild and packed with too many artificial sweeteners.
How do we rate the Bodybuilding.com New 100% Whey Protein?
The best flavor by far, in our opinion, is salted caramel. Unlike the other flavors (as the name suggests, after all), it contains 2 grams of salt per 100 grams of product, which causes a really nice salty aftertaste in the otherwise slightly sweet and full-bodied caramel flavor. It's great with both milk and water and is really good anytime. But you can't go wrong with the other flavours either.
3rd place - Prom-in Pentha Pro Balance
The other popular product from Prom-In also found its place among the top three of your top-rated proteins. This time, however, it is not an ordinary concentrate, but a multi-ingredient protein containing 5 high-quality protein sources. With a choice of six flavours and three pack sizes, it has already been positively rated by nearly six hundred of you.
Which flavour do you think is the best?
The overwhelmingly top-rated variant is "Chocolate, Coconut," which contains a full 6.5% shredded coconut and nonfat cocoa powder. You like the fact that the flavor doesn't feel artificial and instead contains whole pieces of coconut, which translate beautifully into the aroma. However, vanilla, which many of you prefer in baking or in various porridges, has also received a good rating from you.
Are there any unusual flavours?
Prom-In is definitely not one of those companies that offers a million flavors and among them some utter craziness with peanut butter, white chocolate or gummy bears. However, what is very interesting in the case of Pentha Pro Balance is the Oat Smoothie variant, which is hardly sweet at all and feels completely natural. Prom-In thus very effectively targets those of you who can't even see any protein flavors.
How do we rate the Pentha Pro Balance protein?
What attracted us to Pentha Pro Balance protein in particular was the thick consistency. It is a multi-ingredient protein and when you take it throughout the day, it can really fill you up effectively. When it comes to the flavours, we have to agree with you that the chocolate and coconut variant is really the best, as it feels completely natural and goes with everything. You can't go wrong with vanilla either, and we're intrigued by the blueberry, which you sometimes criticise for its frothiness and slightly artificial taste.
4th place - Amix Whey Pure Fusion Protein
Whey Pure Fusion Protein is an effective combination of whey concentrate and whey isolate processed using the CFM method. This guarantees excellent absorption and perfect solubility. And when this is combined with a good price and a taste that you rate as more than good across flavours, there is nothing to think about.
Which flavour do you think is the best?
Out of the 14 flavours available, you rate the Chocolate and Chocolate & Coconut variants the best, giving them 4.9 stars out of a possible 5. You like that neither of these flavours are over-sweetened and can be used in a variety of baked recipes in addition to water. You also highlight the good price and the fact that you can buy these flavours over and over again and many of you still haven't had a surplus after several years.
Are there non-traditional flavours as well?
Non-traditional flavours by Amix certainly exist, but based on your available reviews and our own experience, we would highly recommend avoiding them. For example, the watermelon & yogurt option tasted "like spoiled watermelon" in your opinion, but we found it bland, very sweet, and a bit odd to say the least.
How do we rate Whey Pure Fusion Protein?
If you're reaching for tried-and-true options like chocolate, vanilla, banana, or even something like piña colada, Whey Pure Fusion Protein is definitely a good choice that we can only recommend. But if you want to go for flavours like melon & yoghurt or apple & cinnamon, we definitely recommend trying a single sample first. However, the aforementioned chocolate & coconut combination is a safe bet that we highly recommend.
5th place - Scitec 100% Whey Protein Professional
100% Whey Protein Professional is one of the cheapest proteins ever on the market. And as we have already convinced you, the composition is very good despite the low price and especially athletes who do not have such a big budget for supplements can get a lot out of it. But you may be wondering how it stacks up in terms of taste. According to more than three hundred of your reviews, very well.
What flavour do you think is the best?
It's almost impossible to pick just one flavour out of the whole spectrum of 9 flavours, because you more or less give the same good rating to all of them. For most of the flavours, many of you point out that they are relatively sweet, so there is no need to use honey or other sweeteners in the porridge.Lately, however, you have been most interested in traditional flavours like vanilla or chocolate. These are just the right balance, without unnecessary chemical aftertaste and with very good solubility and digestibility.
Are there non-traditional flavours?
Scitec has several unusual flavours in its repertoire, including cappuccino or white chocolate and strawberry. And in both cases, we've been surprised at the positive reviews our readers and customers have had for this product.Only rarely does anyone complain about the more artificial aftertaste (specifically with the White Chocolate & Strawberry variant) , and otherwise you all like these flavours too.
How do we rate 100% Whey Protein Professional?
100% Whey Protein Professional is a classic that everyone who didn't have a lot of money but wanted a quality protein started out on. For 13 CZK per serving you get a protein with a great composition and an amazing taste. If you want classic, reach for vanilla or chocolate, if you're in the mood for something unconventional, go for white chocolate with strawberry. We were honestly surprised by the cappuccino, which is a bit sweeter than we would have preferred, but the taste is just the right balance and doesn't feel artificial at all.
6th place - Amix Isoprime CFM
Amix is a constant not only on the Czech market and you can appreciate their wide range of flavours. Although Isoprime CFM is available in 14 variants, you rate all of them more than positively. And when you add the top-notch ingredients and the three available pack sizes, there is nothing to worry about. There's simply something for everyone.
Which flavour do you think is the best?
While none of the 14 flavours mentioned actually has a downright bad user rating, you'll find Chocolate, Cookies Cream and the rather complex Mocha, Chocolate and Coffee to be the best. What you like about all of these flavors is that they are relatively sweet and their flavor is full and balanced. You recommend them with water and milk, on their own and in recipes, and even agree that they are incredibly refreshing with ice, and Moca, Chocolate and Coffee is a great substitute for iced coffee on hot summer days.
Are there even unusual flavours?
With 14 flavours available, there's something for everyone, even lovers of unusual flavours. Amix is one of the few manufacturers to offer a protein flavour such as white chocolate, apple and cinnamon or the intense Peanut, Chocolate, Caramel combination. And you know what's the best part? That the vast majority of you were completely satisfied with these untypical variants and few of you complain about the sweeteners or artificial flavours used.
How do we rate Isoprime CFM protein?
Amix Isoprime CFM offers good digestibility, minimal lactose content and a wide range of flavours. Our favourite variant was Cookies Cream, which to our surprise did not feel artificial at all. Although competing manufacturers produce this variant with a distinctly chemical aftertaste, Amix's Cookies Cream was beautifully creamy, thick and not unnecessarily over-sweetened. On the other hand, the forest fruit variant was sweet and artificial, so we unfortunately do not recommend it. Fortunately, there is still plenty to choose from.
7th place - Big Zone Battle Whey
Although Big Zone doesn't have such a tradition as Prom-In or Extrifit, it definitely has something to offer. After all, it's a top German manufacturer that really cares about quality. And with their products being available at a reasonable price, every athlete can enjoy them. But what about the taste? At least for proteins, more than decent, in your opinion.
Which flavour do you think is the best?
You can choose from 9 different flavours in our shop, and 7 of them have been rated by you with 4.9 out of 5 points. And many of you even write about the best vanilla protein on the market. But in addition to the authentic taste without a hint of artificial flavors, you also like the solubility, digestibility, and versatility.
Are there unconventional flavours?
Big Zone makes its products really honestly and tries to build a repertoire of proteins that has something for everyone. If you prefer non-traditional flavours, you can choose things like milk with honey, milk rice with cinnamon or hazelnut with yoghurt. And the best part is that all the proteins really live up to their name in terms of taste - the hazelnut with yoghurt reminds you of various thermised yoghurts, the milk rice with cinnamon is really intensely cinnamon-y and really reminds you of milk rice in its subtlety, as does the milk with honey, which is pleasantly sweet and feels completely natural.
How do we rate the Battle Whey protein?
We were really impressed with Battle Whey and there is probably not a single flavour that we don't like. But if we had to pick just one, we 'd prefer the Vanilla Macchiato, which is like an intense iced coffee with vanilla syrup added. It's great with both milk and water, and adding a few ice cubes creates a drink you can drink any time of day, even by the pool during the summer.
8th place - Extrifit CFM Instant Whey 80
What would this ranking be if it didn't feature Extrifit? Their CFM Instant Whey 80 is an effective combination of CFM whey concentrate and a complex of seven digestive enzymes for maximum use. And of course, for the purposes of today's review, we can't forget that it's available in twelve flavours, the worst of which has a rating of 4.4 out of a possible five, which is still more than pleasant.
Which flavour do you think is the best?
The best flavour, on the other hand, scores full points according to your ratings. With banana protein, you like the perfect, balanced taste, which doesn't feel artificial and doesn't overwhelm so easily, so you can order it over and over again. But apart from banana, you also like vanilla or blueberry, which again have a pleasant taste, good solubility and unbeatable digestibility.
Are there any unusual flavours?
Those of you who have been exercising for a few years will remember a time when Extrifit did not offer such a variety of flavours. But now that the repertoire has been expanded, there's something for everyone, with unusual options like caramel, white yogurt, coffee, and coconut milk. And all of them get very positive reviews from you, you only complain about some artificial reverberations very rarely.
How do we rate CFM Instant Whey 80?
CFM Instant Whey 80 is a classic that never disappoints. And for many of us, it was certainly one of the first proteins we tasted in our fitness careers. From our point of view, it's hilarious in every way, and if we could choose a single flavor, we 'd probably prefer the white yogurt variant, which, while not quite typical, tastes really like white yogurt or yogurt ice cream. What is important to us, however, is that it is not unnecessarily over-sweetened, has no artificial aftertaste and can be used well for baking.
9th place - Czech Virus MPS-5 Pro
MPS-5 is a multi-ingredient protein combining 5 high quality protein sources - native whey CFM concentrate, micellar casein, CFM whey isolate, whey hydrolysate and egg albumin. Of course there is also the addition of digestive enzymes and the absolutely great taste of both available flavours.
Which flavour do you think is the best?
MPS-5 is only available in two flavours and both the vanilla ice cream and chocolate praline flavours have received identical ratings from you of 4.7 out of 5. However, you praise both the consistency, which is beautifully creamy and thick in water, milk and cottage cheese, and the taste itself. While you think the chocolate is beautifully dense and appreciate the intense praline-like flavour, the vanilla ice cream is lighter and combines notes of white chocolate as well.
Are there non-traditional flavours?
Unfortunately, you won't see any unconventional flavours with this protein (at least for now). In the Christmas limited edition some time ago, Czech Virus offered a delicious flavour with orange and almond, but only vanilla and chocolate are in the permanent offer. But you can be sure that whichever one you choose, it will taste more than good.
How do we rate the MPS-5 protein?
In our opinion, MPS-5 is really great, both in terms of taste and composition. If we had to pick the better of the two flavours available, we'd definitely go for the chocolate praline. The flavour is really intensely chocolatey, the consistency is beautifully thick and the protein is absolutely versatile for use in various protein muffins, buns and other baked or unbaked desserts.
