7 dietary supplements worth investing in!
In today's video I'll show you my seven favourite supplements that I think are worth taking. We'll discuss why it's a good idea to invest in them and what they actually do.
The first thing I want to set the record straight is that dietary supplements, as their name suggests, should not form the basis of our diet. If our diet is not primarily made up of quality foods and does not contain enough of the nutrients we need, even the best supplements will not save us.
Let me give you my own example, which I am now laughing at, but you learn by making mistakes. When I started going to the gym at the beginning of high school, the only dietary supplement I knew was protein, which I took several times a day, not knowing how much protein I was taking in daily. Other than that, I ate mostly in the school cafeteria, which was also not ideal. And while I was getting some results on this diet, I often felt like my digestion was overloaded, which took a toll on my energy during the day.

What would I do differently now?
I would definitely pay much more attention to the quality of the food I eat than the quantity. Because quality food plays a key role in how we feel and subsequently in the results we get. I wouldn't just focus on how much I eat, but rather how balanced and nutritionally valuable my food is. I'd also be sure to figure out what my optimal calorie intake and individual macronutrient intake - i.e. protein, carbohydrates, and fat - is for me with respect to my specific goals, whether it's losing weight, gaining muscle mass, or improving my overall fitness. I wouldn't think of supplements as a substitute for a full diet, but rather as something to supplement what I might not be getting enough of from food.
The next step I would take today would be to seek out a qualified professional - either a nutritionist or a trainer who is experienced in nutrition. Such a professional would at least walk me through the basics, helping me set the right diet for my individual needs and goals. What I would learn from him or her would provide me with a solid foundation to continue working on myself and help me avoid unnecessary mistakes I might make along the way.
After all, the foundation is always a good diet - food that not only gives you the nutrients you need, but also leaves you feeling good and with plenty of energy. The key is to be able to make steady progress towards your goals, whatever they may be, on such a diet. I would definitely add other important aspects to this, such as quality sleep, which we often underestimate. In fact, sleep is a key factor not only for the body's recovery, but also for our ability to perform physically and mentally.
I would consider dietary supplements only as a support, not as the main tool to achieve results. Only when you have these basics - i.e. a balanced diet and quality sleep - well mastered does it make sense to invest in supplements. This will make the investment really worthwhile, as it will allow you to achieve your goals more effectively and more quickly. Whether it's to replenish certain nutrients that you don't get enough of from your regular diet or to aid recovery, supplements can be a useful tool, but only if used correctly.
