You can't forget your genes! Joseph Baena crushes biceps with Arnold and reports bodybuilding debut
The fitness world has been wondering for years if Joseph Baena will ever follow in his famous father's footsteps and stand on a competition stage. His resemblance to Arnold, who at his best dominated the entire sport and won seven Mr. Olympia titles, is unmistakable. Joseph has hinted at this possibility several times and has built a huge following in the community.
But standing on the podium requires much more than just posting well-lit photos on Instagram. That's why Baena works hard, watches his diet and trains with the utmost dedication to showcase a balanced and perfectly formed physique reminiscent of the "Austrian Oak". While he hasn't revealed what specific show he's going to, all signs point to it being soon.
"You have to shock the muscles"
In a recent social media post, Baena boasted about how he's been doing biceps lifts with a large barbell, directly under the supervision of Schwarzenegger himself. "You have to shock the muscles," he wrote in the caption, a clear reference to one of his father's most famous quotes.
He added a brief but telling comment to another post showing his current form:
"Preparing for stage debut is loading up... It's about to break!"
Baena has been focusing on training at maximum intensity throughout his preparation. He recently shared his training routine focusing on pressure exercises (Push Day), where he puts a particular emphasis on the chest and shoulders, the areas that make the difference on stage.
What category will he be in?
For some time it seemed that Joseph would not go the same way as his father. He himself stressed that he didn't want to live in Arnold's shadow. But his father's achievements inspired him so much that he seems to have changed his mind. Moreover, he is not a newcomer to the world of hard training - he has previously trained with icons such as Mike O'Hearn and Robby Robinson.
Now, fans are mostly wondering what category he will choose for his debut. Many experts believe his physique would fit perfectly in the Classic Physique category, but the Men's Physique division hasn't been ruled out.
Whatever Joseph decides, one thing is certain - after training lessons directly from the seven-time Mr. Olympia, he is one big step closer to his highly anticipated entry into the world of bodybuilding. We will continue to follow his journey!
