Over a million a year for food! Jay Cutler reveals the details of his diet

Although for many athletes bodybuilding and fitness is all about a healthy lifestyle, at the top level you can forget about a varied diet. Jay Cutler knows this, too, as he revealed his nutrition plan in pursuit of Mr. Olympia in a recent YouTube show. And as you can guess, he spent a pretty penny on food.

In a short video posted on his YouTube channel, one of the best bodybuilders in history reveals that at the peak of his career he spent $50,000 a year on food, which at current exchange rates is more than 1.2 million crowns.

"Back then, I was spending about $50,000 a year on food,... I was buying a whole cow at a time. I had two freezers in my house. At one time I was eating about 4 kilos of meat a day, a lot of it was red meat, but I was buying 150 kilos of chicken at a time," says the owner of four Mr. Olympia titles about his dietary habits.

"I used to sit outside and cook all the chicken breasts, steaks and things like that on the grill."

he adds in the aforementioned video, which you can watch below. In doing so, he makes it clear that the lifestyle of a professional bodybuilder is far from just about intense workouts, but also about time spent in the kitchen planning and eating meals.

His age-old rival, Ronnie Coleman, who Jay beat at the 2006 Olympia, in turn recently added that he consumed 600 grams of protein daily. The diet of top athletes is thus very much different from that of ordinary exercisers. On the other hand, it should be noted that Jay Cutler is currently 50 years old and still in absolutely incredible shape.
