Mr. Olympia 2024 announces new qualification rules for the Men's Open division!
The Mr. Olympia brand has decided to make a change. In a recent Instagram post published on October 23, the rules of the Mr. Olympia 2024 competition changed. It has been an exciting season of change for all of Mr. Olympia and the IFBB professional league. Recently, there have been significant changes in several divisions. Recently, the rules for height and weight in Classic Physique were changed. These measures were taken to offer a more level playing field for competitors who boast a shorter stature. Surprisingly, these changes went into effect immediately.
Changes to the rules for the Men's Physique class were then introduced. These changes were brought to the attention of IFBB Pro League Vice President, Tyler Manion. The league stated that competitors in Men's Physique had begun to compete with competitors in Classic Physique, which was the reason for the change. These changes will go into effect after the 2023 Mr. Olympia competition.
Now, to spur more interest in the show outside of Olympia, the promotion has decided to make it even harder for Open talent to secure a spot on the sport's most prestigious stage. It should be noted that all other IFBB Pro League categories offer automatic qualification to those who place in the top three spots. Formally, the top five Mr. Olympia finalists have always received automatic qualification.

Who will automatically qualify for next year's Olympia?
At Olympia, we pay close attention to the hundreds of qualifying competitions that take place around the world. In recent years, the top five competitors in the Mr. Olympia division have automatically qualified for next year's Olympia, but after consulting with the IFBB Pro League, we decided to make a change.
"Starting this year, only the top three competitors in the Open division will automatically qualify for next year's Olympia. We are making this change in an effort to strengthen the regional competitions held around the world and give them additional prestige.
We are making this change with the full support of the IFBB Professional League as we all have a common interest in maintaining a system that strengthens competitions at all levels."
Jake Wood Owner of Olympia adds "With this change it now means that the top three in each Olympia division will automatically qualify for next year's Olympia."
