Angela Borges has withdrawn from the Wellness Olympia 2023

Wellnesian Angela Borges has decided to withdraw from the Olympia 2023 competition. She intends to focus more on other goals in life than competitive success. Olympia is the most prestigious professional bodybuilding competition. Its 2023 chapter takes place from November 3 to 5 in Orlando, Florida, USA. Borges' withdrawal from the show could shake up the division standings considerably given her competitive ability and proven track record.

Angela Borges is one of the leading female competitors hailing from Brazil. She has competed in several professional shows over the past seven years. The Brazilian is also one of the pioneers in the Wellness division of the IFBB Pro League.

In the Wellness division, competitors with athletic physiques compete, showing off more muscle mass in the hips, glutes and thighs. To give you an idea, this division requires more muscle mass than the Bikini division. However, the expected muscle definition is less than the Fitness or Women's Physique divisions. The division was added to the Olympia program in 2021.

Angela Borges became the first Wellness competitor to qualify for the 2021 Olympia by winning the Pittsburgh Pro 2021 on May 1, 2021. Long before the division was included in Olympia, she was already one of the top competitors in the division and has several wins and podium finishes on the biggest bodybuilding platforms.

In her debut at the 2021 Olympia, Borges finished second behind inaugural winner Francielle Mattos. She repeated her second-place finish at the 2022 Arnold Classic and capped off her competitive season with a third-place finish at Olympia 2022. At the 2023 Arnold Classic in March, the Brazilian made a quick turnaround, narrowly missing out on victory and walking away with another second-place finish.

Borges is capable of winning the title at the Wellness Olympia with a little tweaking. In all of her social media posts, she seems to be in phenomenal shape. However, despite a legitimate chance to win, she has decided to withdraw from the 2023 Olympia. The Brazilian bodybuilder has a budding career as a fitness trainer. In addition, she is involved in other business activities. In a descriptive post on Instagram, Angela Borges shed light on the reasons for her withdrawal from the competition, writing:

"This year, in addition to improving my physique, I decided to focus more on my businesses, my alumni and especially the thousands of students @team_angelaborges on my platform. Also, to the courses and trainings that I run all over Brazil and the world. My social media is a reflection of the work I do, trying to help women not only change their body composition, but also get out of obesity, anorexia, depression, low self-esteem and other diseases of the body and mind. This is my goal, and I will dedicate myself to it more every day. I know Shape photos can serve as inspiration, but my responsibility, knowledge and experience doesn't allow me to deliver so little, to educate and raise awareness, but to change lives, that is my legacy."
