Derek Lunsford - workouts from the preparation for the premiere participation in Mr. Olympia #1

The American bodybuilder Derek Lunsford made a big impact in 2017, at the age of 24, when he managed to dominate the up to 90 kg category at the NPC USA amateur competition, thus earning himself a move to the pros. Just a week later he made his professional debut at the 2017 Wings of Strength Titan Medical Tampa Pro, where he dominated his 212-pound category with ease, qualifying him for the 2017 Olympia 212 Showdown. He did well again at the event, making it to the Top 5!

During the next two editions of this most prestigious competition, he finished in second place, losing only to seven-time winner James "Flex" Lewis in 2018 and Kamal Elgargni in 2019.

He didn't fare so well at the 2020 Olympia 212 Showdown when a trio of Shaun Clarida, Kamal Elgargni and George Peterson got ahead of him and he had to settle for fourth. However, he improved his reputation, and indeed his spirits, immensely last year when he finally managed to dominate the 212 Olympia (the new shortened name of the competition).

However, the whole Olympia Weeekend last year was very unpleasantly marked by the death of the aforementioned George Peterson, who died right at the venue of this spectacular show!

For this year's 212 Olympia, Derek was in the role of defending last year's triumph.

However, ever since his exhibition appearance at the Pittsburgh Pro 2022 in May, where he appeared alongside open category stars Brandon Curry, Nick Walker and Hunter Labrada, alongside whom he did not appear as a representative of the lower weight class at all, there has been speculation that he could take the stage at this year's Olympia Weekend, once again alongside these fighters, for Mr. Olympia.

As we now know, the above has become a reality, and Derek has received a special invitation to participate in this year's edition of the most prestigious bodybuilding competition in the world!
