Bigman Weekend Pro 2021 - Open category was dominated by 212 Angel Celderón Frias!
On Sunday, November 28th, another edition of the professional show called Bigman Weekend Pro took place in Alicante, Spain, under the banner of the IFBB Jim Manion Professional League. Apart from the valuable metals, of course, there was also a fight for qualification for Olympia Weekend 2022!
Open Category:
A total of sixteen fighters were on the stage, one of them was our very own Honza Turek, who came to Alicante to improve his mood and reputation from his not so good performance at the Romania Muscle Fest Pro 2021.
Looking at the start list, which did not contain any extra famous names, the most prominent favourite to triumph was the twenty-two year old German competitor Emir Omeragic, who came a very respectable 4th place at the aforementioned Romanian event!
Another one of the candidates for the top positions was also our Honza Turek, who managed to beat the aforementioned Omeragic in front of the home crowd at the EVLS Prague Pro 2021!
However, Angel Celderón Frias was also a favorite, jumping up from the 212-pound class among the heavyweights.
Frias has already secured his ticket to the 212 Olympia 2022 by winning his category at the Romania Muscle Fest Pro 2021, mentioned several times. Taking a cue from Shaun Clarida, who crushed giants at the Legion Sports Fest Pro 2021, living up to his nickname "The Giant Killer", he wanted to try what it was like to stand on the same stage as these mastodons.
Frias and Omeragic were, as expected, called up for the first semifinal comparison, and they were joined by the foursome of Morgan Aste, Mohammad Nsour, Dani Kaganovich and Eduardo Rodriguez, who was making his professional debut here.
From the very first moment on the stage it was obvious that Frias was going for his debut victory, even in front of his home crowd, despite the fact that he was losing to his opponents not only in height, but of course in weight as well. However, he owed nothing to his opponents as he crushed them all with the might of his upper body!
Honza Turek got his chance to present himself in the second comparison, in which he posed in the middle of the line, and thus it meant a decent 7th place for him. However, when the presenter announced the Top 10, Honza was not among them, so he went backstage with the rest of the competitors. There they were able to watch the action on the podium via the broadcast. After a while, it was obvious that something was wrong when someone obviously started looking. That someone was Honza, who, unlike the presenter's roster, was in the judges' top 10. And so Honza returned to the podium.
In the context of the above, Angel Calderón Frias scored his first victory among heavyweights, and his seventh victory overall. Like Shaun Clarida, he also has a few months to think about whether he will stand on the podium of Mr. Olympia 2022, 212 Olympia 2022, or whether he will try to convince the Olympia Weekend management that they could stand on the podium in both of the aforementioned categories, which is out of the question under the current rules.
Emir Omeragic took a great second place. However, there was a sense of disappointment in his post-competition speech when he said that he was only a small step away from achieving his goal of triumphing and directly qualifying for Mr. Olympia 2022. It should be noted, however, that this is his debut season, and given his age, he still has everything ahead of him. So there is no hurry and nothing to worry about. His days are sure to come.
Dani Kaganovich fought his way to a very good 3rd place, thus scoring his best result so far among professionals.
Fourth place went to the symmetrical Mohammad Nsour
Eduardo Rodriguez was the last one to make it to the Top 5, for whom it was his first appearance as a professional bodybuilder.
Our Honza Turek, as already mentioned above, earned a decent 7th place from the judges, and thus said goodbye to this year's competition season satisfied. His form was just as he wished, which is a very important aspect for the upcoming season!

Categories up to 212 pounds:
In the division up to 212 pounds, there were 13 competitors, and with Angel Calderón Frias not participating in the Open category, Oleh Kryvyi was the strongest favorite to win.
He left nothing to chance, and although he was pretty well nipping at the heels of Morteza Mashayekh, who offered a very decent quadriceps and a narrower midsection, Oleh boasted a more powerful upper body and more detail, which ultimately played in his favor, and he scored his second pro win.
The first one dates back to 2019, when he managed to dominate the Musclecontest Nacional Pro 2019 on his debut.
Morteza finished second, with Nasser Sayed taking third place.
