Shaun Clarida has a clear plan to compete in the 212lb division as well as the open category at Olympia

After this year's Olympia, Shaun Clarida was dethroned from the imaginary throne of the under 212lbs division when he was beaten by Derek Lunsford. Despite this being a setback for Clarida and being surrounded by mixed emotions, he decided to move on again and set his sights on the open category. For his first race amongst the monsters, Shaun competed at the Legion Sports Fest Pro 2021 on October 24, 2021, where he even managed to win and qualify directly for the 2022 Olympia.

With this feat Shaun secured the idea that he would like to compete in the open, only Clarida would not only want to fight amongst the giants but also in his division up to 212lbs. But the question is whether this is possible and whether the main officials of the federation and the Mr. Olympia show will approve Shaun to participate in both categories.

In a recent interview Clarida said:

"I would love to get the opportunity to compete in both the 212 and the open, but I'm not sure if there is a rule that allows or prohibits me from participating in both categories. In the past I have seen racers choose between one of the two divisions, but I can't say for sure if it was a personal decision or if they were forced to choose.

I will talk to Jim Manion, Tyler Manion and Jake Wood to get enough information on this.

So Shaun has a clear plan to make it to the Olympia - convince the federation heads to allow him to enter two categories of competition! Clarida also confided that he will spend the rest of the year relaxing and unwinding with his girlfriend and family. He is also talking about moving to Florida.
