HMB or beta-hydroxy-beta-methyl butyrate is a well-known supplement that can be recommended to all individuals focused on muscle growth and recovery. It is a metabolite of the amino acid leucine, which is naturally produced in small quantities in the body during protein synthesis. It is also found in small amounts in grapefruit, alfalfa or catfish meat.

About 5-10% of leucine is naturally converted to HMB in the body, supplementation effectively increases the levels of this active substance. HMB supports the results of strength training, increases protein synthesis (compared to placebo approximately twice as much). The effect of HMB is further enhanced by joint use with creatine. HMB also has properties related to urea produced in the muscles as a waste substance and excreted nitrogen, to the excretion of the stress hormone cortisol and to the defence shield.

Recommended Reflex HMB dosage:

• Mix 2g of powder (approximately one aligned 5ml scoop) with water, juice or other cold beverage. If you weigh over 60 kg, take 2 doses. Take preferably on an empty stomach, one hour before exercise. A scoop is included with the product.
