Branch Chain Amino Acids (BCAA) are essential for two reasons: strictly speaking because our body cannot make them, and secondly because in case of stress (e.g. after training or as a result of nutrient deficiency) these amino acids are the first to be consumed in the muscles. Leucine is a component of BCAA. According to the latest scientific research, leucine is the most important amino acid because it directly stimulates protein synthesis in skeletal muscles.
High levels of leucine give the muscles an anabolic signal. Leucine accelerates recovery and prevents catabolism of muscle tissues (anticatabolic effect). Leucine supplementation has been shown to be useful even with large amounts of protein, as well as when added to a fast-absorbing protein turmix! During intense training, the muscles are able to utilize the BCAA amino acids in the energy generation processes, these amino acids are therefore anabolic and anti-catabolic in nature.
Recommended dosage:
- 1 dose is 5-7 grams (depending on flavours) = 1 heaped teaspoon.
- Take 1-3 doses per day.
- Use before, during or after training or before rest.
- Allow the blended drink to sit for a few minutes for best dissolution.
