"There's definitely still a lot to work on," Nicola Vachová evaluates her time at EVLS Prague Amateur 2022!

During the past weekend, the EVLS Prague Amateur 2022 international amateur competitions took place in the Czech Republic under the NPC banner, where the best competitors could compete for professional cards. The competition was attended by bikini Nicola Vachová, who dominated her category up to 163 cm. And in this interview, we will take a look with Nicola at how she enjoyed the competition and how she evaluates her golden result.

Hi Nicola, first of all I would like to congratulate you for winning your category at EVLS.

Thank you very much.

Were you nervous before the race or did you go to the podium with a clear head?

I've never been calmer. I have to say that compared to previous race seasons, I have learned to handle stress much better and I went on the podium with a clear head this time. I had the same feeling last week at the competition in Romania. If a competitor is relaxed it shows in his presentation and overall impression on the podium.

How confident were you before the competition? Did you think you could dominate your category?

I honestly didn't think about it at all. I wanted to enjoy the race, no matter what the outcome. Evaluation is always subjective and you can never know in advance how it will turn out. On the contrary, it was more of a surprise to me when the comparisons placed me in the middle of the line up (you can tell you are fighting for a medal position by that).

How do you rate your opponents? Were they well prepared?

I don't evaluate my opponents. Not in the bikini category, where each time is judged differently. There are competitions where fitness is preferred, but then there are also competitions where you want to see the shape in a more "soft" form. So you can't really evaluate how fit someone is. It's about hitting the judges' taste at that moment.

You competed for the absolute with Henrietta Skupekova, who subsequently won the PRO CARD. What did you think of her form?

Henrieta definitely deserved to win the pro card. She looked great, as did her presentation on stage. I believe she will do well in the PRO league!

How does Robert rate your result?

I suppose he's more than happy with 1st place. For every coach the result of his competitor is the biggest reward. All the more so because we experience all the successes and failures together and as partners.

Have you seen any weaknesses in yourself that you would like to improve?

There is definitely still room for improvement. However, I like to look at everything with hindsight and always think things through before we move on.

Have any fans come to you for photos?

Yes, and it was incredibly nice. A lot of people have been to EVLS just to see me compete or to come up to us in person, either for a photo or to have a few words. We really appreciate such support and thank you!

Do you know what other races you will be participating in and what are your plans for the future?

As I said, I always take my time so that we can plan our next steps in peace. We focus on feedback, going through photos from the podium, evaluating, discussing. Preparing for competitions is not only demanding physically, but also mentally and you need to let your body and mind rest. Then we get on with the next work, which I am really looking forward to! I love pushing my limits.
