Team Pirates dominated the Ultimate Strongman Team World Championship 2019!
Author: World Ultimate Strongman hosted another in a series of competitions. This time it was a pairs race, which took place inNottingham, England (3.11.2019), which you may know from the Robin Hood stories.
The races were attended by 16 world-class powerlifters who measured their ambitions in 5 different disciplines. Unfortunately, the trio of the world's strongest men for2019 - Martins Licis, Matheus Kieliwovsky and Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, or Thor - did not take part in the competition.
Matheus Kieliwovsky was supposed to race in a pair with his Polish friend Radzikowski, but unfortunately Mat. had to miss the race due to injury. A very good replacement for Radzikowski was JF. Caron.
Martins Licis didn't enter because of the world record he wanted to break at this race. Thor did not enter because of an injury he suffered at The World's Strongest Man 2019.
Teams
Yankees (Z. Hadge, N. Hadge)
Sakons (A. Flynn, Ch. Morgan)
Pirates (J.F. Caron, K. Radzikowski)
Barbarians (V. Lalas, M. Lalas)
Beasts (M. Shivlyakov, M. Belshak)
Rebels (R. Heinla, R. Kearney)
Dragons (M. Jeanes, G. Bilton)
Celts (P. O'Dwyner, P. Benton)
Log Lift Medley
The races started with the first discipline that is becoming very popular nowadays - Log Lift. However, it was not just one log lift, but a total of 5 differently weighted "logs" - 120kg, 140kg, log lift pair 300g, 180kg and the last 200kg. The competitors had the biggest problem with the 200kg log lift, which became an unconquered milestone for all..
Deadlift
The second discipline that awaited the competitors - axel deadlift 700kg for the number of repetitions. This discipline was dominated by the "Pirates" (J.F. Caron, K. Radzikowski), when they managed to do an incredible 10 reps with this staggering weight !
See video below.
Farmer´s Walk
Another discipline was the so-called kufty. The competitors held incredibly heavy weights in each hand, which they had to carry as far as possible in 90 seconds. Pairs could take turns. The longest pair was M. Shivlyakov and M. Belšak - 60,75m.
Tire Flip and Sandbag
The penultimate discipline was a giant tire flip and sandbag. One of the pair of competitors had to flip the tire over the 20m distance and when the tire fell over the 20m limit line, the other competitor took the sandbag, had to carry it and then throw it into the middle of the tire.
Atlas Stones
The last discipline consisted of a concrete ball, called an atlas. This had to be thrown by the pair over a log, which was more difficult on each repetition, so each repetition got harder and harder. The only pair that successfully completed this discipline was a pair of pirates - Caron and Radzikowski. They managed to throw the atlas over the tilted log a total of 5 times!
Thanks to this, the Pirates won not only this discipline, but also the race! The silver medal was won by the Rebels team with Raun Heinla and Rob Kearny. The bronze medal was won by the Beasts team consisting of Mikhail Shivlyakov and Matjaz Belshak.
