Studnicky Strongman and Czech and Slovak Strongwoman Championship 2024 | Results and reportage

Last year, the team around Jaroslav Zámečník showed that the organisation is doing a great job, but this year they have raised the bar again... The facilities for the competitors were well prepared, the race went according to schedule and not only thanks to the preparation and commitment of all loaders, helpers and volunteers.

The competitors had to master the following disciplines

  • Press Medley (Single Handed, Monster Single Handed, Loglift)
  • Conan Wheel
  • Hercules Hold
  • Tire Flip
  • Atlas Run (Castle Stones)

Due to the variety of categories that I have already mentioned, the descriptions of each discipline will be a bit more complicated to describe, but it is important to mention that everyone had the same disciplines, only the weight of each discipline varied. The distribution of categories was as follows:

  • Women U75
  • Women Open
  • Men U90
  • Men U105
  • Men Open
  • Men Masters

So the only ones we don't find here are professional strongmen. Jaroslav Zámečník, the organizer himself, took up the moderator's profession and Jaroslav Svoboda, the president of the CNFS and strongman Karel Prášil, took care of the whistle, i.e. to take care of the sporting and regular rules.

Press Medley

The press medley at the beginning of the race, when everyone is excited and full of strength, is the ideal discipline for a strong spectator experience. The competitors had to lift a total of 3 weights, i.e. a "small" one-handed barbell, which only looked small, but was definitely not light, then a "big" monster one-handed barbell and lastly a log lift.

On the first discipline reigned among girls U75 Karin Krchlíková, Open Jana Roubalová, among men U90 Jaroslav František, U105 Lukáš Vrábel and Peter Klukavý, Masters Martin Rambousek, Open Tomáš Zemi Zeman.

Press Medley

Conan Wheel

Conan Wheel is a great discipline, the strength you need is complex, but most importantly, if you go too long and carry a heavy load in your arms, you quickly run out of oxygen, so it is relatively easy to shut down. But nobody wants that...

Some people are helped by a slow and deliberate walk, others pick up racing speed. This discipline was dominated by U75 women Karin Krchlíková, Open Jana Roubalová, U90 men Jaroslav František, U105 Adam Lemesányi, Masters Radek Rosa and Open Jiří Rauš.

Hecules Hold

Holding two poles tilted apart is again a very interesting discipline for the spectator, it is important for the competitor to have a very strong grip and a very level head. Yes a discipline like this is usually won with the head, the important thing is to hold on for as long as possible.

And who lasted the longest? Women U75 Karin Krchlíková, Open Jana "Baba Herbalist" Roubalová and men U90 Jakub Starý, U105 Adam Lemesányi, Masters Radek Rosa and Open Tomas Zeman.

Tire Flip

Flipping a giant tire is one of the basic strongman disciplines, and I would dare say one of my favorites, both from the competitor's and spectator's point of view. Karin Krchlíková did 5 reps among U75 girls, Janča Roubalová did 7 reps among Open.

Radovan Mesšina took the first place among U90 men with 12 reps, Adam Lemesányi with 10 reps in U105, Radek Rosa also did 10 reps in Masters, and Tomas Zeman did 7 reps in Open.

Atlas Run

Studnicky storngman attracted the audience with, among others, the Czech variation of castle stones known from Giants Live events, i.e. the most famous ones in the world. I think the discipline was successful. There was a large number of stones of different weights. Each category had to stack a total of 5 stones on different high platforms.

Again, the weights varied across the categories. Karin Krchlíková won the discipline among the girls U75, Jana Roubalová won the Open, Jaroslav František among the men U90, Adam Lemesányi U105, Radek Rosa Masters and Tomas Zeman Open, all winners of their categories managed all five stones.

Results

The races went smoothly and without unnecessary delays, the spectators cheered a lot and generally enjoyed the performances of all the strongmen and strongwomen. In addition to the adult competitions, children also competed. The intention of this accompanying program was to bring the incredible disciplines closer to parents and their children. The organizer prepared six disciplines for the children, which, according to their physical abilities, they could try and receive, besides the prizes, the same medal as the adult competitors.

The children competed in the disciplines that were displayed on their starting cards. For each discipline there was a volunteer who guided the children through the specific discipline and explained how to perform it correctly according to the rules of the strongman competition. When a child competitor had done everything, he or she was given a stamp and after completing all six tasks, a reward in the form of a material prize and a medal awaited him or her, which was also given to the big strongmen and strongwomen who competed on the next field.

Parents who accompanied their children to the children's strongman could also try out the disciplines and at the same time watch the competitions, cheer and support the competitors The organizer also prepared a spectator competition for moms and dads, where parents and other spectators could also win prizes for their performances.

The whole day and event was conceived as a charity event to support the Asgent Gene Therapy Association, which supports research into gene therapy treatments for rare genetic diseases. The fact that a cool 23 500,- CZK was raised speaks for the success of the event.

Before I list the winners of each category, I would like to mention that the organizers took care of every detail and had really beautiful trophies and prizes made. The company Železný svět made axes and medals with the logo of the Studnik strongman, the company Fitnema donated a monster dumbbell as the main prize for the Women's Open, sets of Grips from Vikings Den and so on.

The winners of each category were:

  • Women U70 - Karin Krchlíková
  • Women Open - Jana Roubalova
  • Men U90 - Jaroslav Frantisek
  • Men U105 - Adam Lemesányi
  • Men Masters - Radek Rosa
  • Men Open - Tomáš Zeman

Congratulations to the winners, but congratulations to the other competitors as well, because it is not so important to win, but to not give a shit and participate. And I'm sure every competitor from Studnice will confirm that. I for one am already looking forward to next year's event, but I'm sure there will be many more of us...
